I have been looking into updating the ancient night sights, completely dull, on a police surplus gen 3 glock 19 and was trying to understand different sights impact on the POA vs POI.

Looking for sights that result in sight image #2. Any input? Out of curiosity what picture do factory glocks use? I have only ever had one with night sights.

I second Dawson. I have a set on my G34 that is center hold and they shoot perfect. I put the same set on my G35 and my POI was 4" high vs POA and my adjustable rear sight was bottomed out. I called Dawson they told me to call back with how far it was off,at what distance and sight measurement. I did, in 2 days I had another front sight at my door free. Their "Perfect Impact" guarantee is great. The gun now shoots exactly how I like it.

Talk to these folks, they'll get you any sight picture you want

Thank you for the suggestion. Looks like they have solid reviews.

I, and I believe Derek as well, run Dawsons with .105" wide fronts and .115" rears. Its POA/POI at 25 yards for me. Nice tight sight picture and super clean machining.

I run that setup on my G19 and G17.

This was a 25 yard bill drill with them.

Can't say enough about Dawsons. My go-to sights.

Dawson makes good sights. Same for 10-8 Performance and Heinie. I prefer an all black rear sight (no dots).

Heinie Straight Eights. You'll only have one dot in the rear but once you've tried them you'll never got back to three dots.

Not me. I started with two-dot rear sights. Tried the straight eight rear sight. Now I buy black rear sights - no dots at all. I want my vision attracted to the front sight, not distracted by the dots on the rear sight. YMMV. The Heinie Ledge is a nice rear sight. Get it with a wide notch.

Ameriglo sights will give you a six o'clock hold on pretty much any glock (i.e., will align sights just below target, POI is above POA).

for me dawsons are awesome for range gun but I prefer ameriglo' heinie or trijicons for defensive

Stock factory glock sights are between 2 and 3, a nebulous cauldron of BS. 1 is retarded and nobody does that. [laugh] I find with Trijicon NS "2" is the most typical, but they are hardly the only vendor that will give you that kind of sight POI.

Every single set of Dawsons I've ever purchased have resulted in Sight picture #2 when printing at 25 yards. I cannot say same thing for other brands I've purchased, including Trijicon HDs. Ive actually had separate guns (same model, same model sight) have #2 OR #3 in terms of POA/POI with the HDs

I have shot Stu's Dawson's on his G19, they are really awesome! (Maybe it was the 'Stu-mojo' or coaching that resulted in my shooting it well [wink] )

When I read on another forum about rust, I worried a bit (despite reassurances to the contrary). So I saw that Taran Tactical had pretty similar sights with supposedly a new coating,
Rear serrations cut down on glare. Both front and rear sights are billet stainless steel coated with Diamond Black Ion Bond (95 Rockwell hardness) for the highest level of rust resistance and the strongest finish.
No more pulling your gun out of your bag a week later and finding your sights rusted over, dinged, dented, or finding distracting, shiny corners or edges.
, I just opted to have those installed on my G19 when TT did some work on it.

I have Ameriglo I Dot Pro's on my G43- (totally different than the Dawson's or Taran's, but they're easy).

Good luck choosing! [grin]

This times 1000. Holy crap do I love these sights.

my experience w the dawson precision FO sights has been the small front sight aids to precision. however really crumps in anything other than strong lighting environment. for outdoor shooting I absolutely love the dawsons, but indoor low light forget-about-it, at least for my eyes.

I have a set of Dawson's on an M&P 9 I bought second hand. They are nice sights however I like the Warren Tactical better. I put a set on another M&P 9 and they are great.

I went with the Tactical Night Set. The rear is all black with the "U" notch which I prefer over the square and the front has the Green Tritium. Rear notch is .145 and front post is .115 The wider notch in the rear allows for quicker acquisition of the front sight and the U shape makes it easier to center the front sight and concentrate on the front sight. My only real complaint is the tritium is not that bright in low light conditions.

You won't go wrong with either Dawsons or the Warrens.
