Dumbing things down for the masses?? At least they said 'clips or magazines' rather than just 'clips.'

"The shooters in Colorado and Arizona used large-capacity weapons capable of firing many rounds quickly."

When did the size of the magazine control how fast each round could be fired? Maybe those guys doing competitive shooting should switch to 30 round mags to get the rounds off faster.

ok, so they think 30 rounders are ok. they didn't say anything about opposing the awb being reinstated.
also, the whole banning gay marriage and abortion thing is dumb as well. they are over pandering to their far right base. it's too bad, really, because a lot of so called swing voters probably care more about govt getting out of the bedroom than getting out of their gun safes........mho is that gov should stay out of it all.
i will be holding my nose while i vote this election.

Whatever, it is a step in the right direction...

Now if they would just change the platform (a 180 at this point) to renounce socialism and the nanny state as well.

I don't think either of those issues are dumb. Homosexual marriage has been on the ballot in, I believe, 11 states. Every state voted to deny it. It failed when put before the people. Homosexuals are maybe 1.2% of the population. Why should I be forced by those 1.2% to appease them? What have they done for me? Answer: Nothing. They don't enrich my life in any way. Why should I give up my belief in traditional marriage for 1.2% of the population? If they want a civil union with the same benefits as marriage, I'm all for it. But don't pollute the word marriage because your a snippy little homo that is trying to legitimize your life choice. You need to work that out for yourself, leave me out of it and don't ask me to change my beliefs to suit you. OK?

Abortion. That's gonna lock this thread faster than a hot load out of the barrel of EC's 500. It's just wrong to take an innocent persons life. It's not what we are about as Americans.

IBTL

IBTL

[rofl]!

ok, grandpa.

Tell us when you're done telling other grown adults what commitments they can and cant make. Cut from the same cloth of people who said blacks and women shouldn't be able to vote when it was still illegal.

More importantly, given the urgency of our financial problems, it is a complete, and utter waste of time to even talk about such issues - even if you assume that .gov should do anything at all about them.

Anyone who prioritizes these issues is both a statist and wrong as well as delusional about what is really a threat to us as a nation and society right now.

Oh yeah, defiantly calling IBTL

This one has crash an burn written all over it.

IMHO at the very least society as a whole should not be mandated to PAY for your abortions or Gay/Lesbian marriage. Seeing as how the country is beyond broke, why are we paying heterosexual people to be married ( via tax credits ) or giving tax credits to those that have kids.....
,

EDIT: wow, this thread is way off course already.

Doesnt matter what the GOP think, they arent going to win shit. The crap they say, all while having their heads deeply inserted up their own behinds assures such. They have tried to play both sides of the fence, and by doing so grant Ohbumma another 4 years. This F'in election was a layup, but they managed to screw it up anyway

Can you read? I said

What part of that don't you understand?

I don't give a crap about what two adults commit to in a relationship. I do give a crap about what it's called. I don't want the word Marriage polluted. That word is part of our tradition and heritage. It's always meant a man and a woman joined in commitment. The 1.2% want to change that definition and I say No. Again (please pay attention) If they want a civil union with the same benefits as marriage, I'm all for it.

mar·riage/ˈmarij/

Noun: The formal union of a man and a woman, typically recognized by law, by which they become husband and wife.

So you support separate but equal?

You've never seen a gay or lesbian relationships were one is for all intensive purposes a man and the other is a woman? Do you need testicles and a dick to be a man? Because there's some unfortunate veterans and victims of accidents that don't have those parts either. Are they less of a man? Should they be allowed to marry? What about people who had developmental issues in the womb. They shouldn't marry?

This whole marriage argument is retarded anyways as marriage has primarily only ever been about 1 thing. Property. It has never been about love or some magical romantic hallmark card ideal. Through history it's been about owning someone else legally. Marriage has already been polluted.

The last time I checked homosexuals had the right to own property. Therefore they have the right to marry as they see fit, call it what they see fit.

I'm not disputing the fact that they can call it whatever they want. Just don't force me to recognize it as traditional marriage. But that's what they want, they want to force me to call it traditional marriage and I say No. And I won't be bullied by 1.2% of the population. They don't have sufficient numbers to alter the conversation.

I support them to be free to do whatever they want to do but they cannot have the word marriage. If they want something other than a civil union then let them make up a word for it. Leave the word marriage alone. It doesn't belong to them.

You've never heard of tyranny of the majority have you? That's what these people experience. That's why gay marriage hasn't passed into law. Unfortunately, they don't realize civil rights aren't something to vote for.

This is why we have our form of government. They don't need YOU to recognize anything. They need the government to recognize their marriage. Why do we need to create yet ANOTHER legal entity to fill up our law books? If a civil union is for all intensive purposes marriage why do we have to hire 1000 government leaches to write more hack laws? At one time people were saying blacks couldn't marry whites because it would pollute the ideal of marriage. That didn't turn out so bad.

Words don't belong to anyone. Otherwise we could sue the Republicans and Democrats for neither supporting republicanism or democracy.

I mean, if you have the word 'marriage' trademarked let us know.

"Marriage" is a religious term. It is one shared by multiple religions, but government has nothing to say about the issue any more than they should have anything to say about what Chrismas or Hanukkah or Ramadan mean.

The problem was getting government involved in this arrangement at all.

So, people should stop reaching down each others pants and demanding they cough the right way and start demanding that government get out of the business of giving a !@#$ing !@#$ what people call their union, when it starts and when it stops.

Right on!

And this points to the REAL issue, which is financial. They are doing this for the tax and insurance benefits, not to change religion. If we weren't forced into an insurance dominated medical world, and to pay taxes, this would not be an issue.

That is why I support a civil union WITH ALL THE BENEFITS OF TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE! I've always supported that. But that doesn't seem good enough for the homosexuals. They don't want civil unions they want marriage. No! You can't pollute the word. It's religious and you don't get to change that to something you like.
