Gorsuch Confirmed to Supreme Court

[thumbsup]

Yup we need Ruthie to give up the ghost now.
Wonder how long it will take now for Trump to start correcting the democrat attack on the 2nd?

Definitely a great win for now, but remember - it will be just as easy for the Dem's to ram their candidate through when they eventually have control of the senate and presidency (should they be presented with an opening). Let's hope another liberal leaning SCJ retires very soon to give us some more buffer.

yeah, if Trump could appoint two more and they were totally 2A that would be HUGELY incredible!!!

Hard to find the voting results, but I found an article that cited 54-46 for a confirmation after a 52-48 vote to change the filibuster rules.

I don't see the petting zoo known as democratic party as gaining control of either senate or house in 2018. i could be wrong but I'm predicting we see congress R majority throughout Trump's presidency. hopefully Ginsburg will GTFO by mid 2018 which will leave Trump plenty of time to appoint a flaming Tea Party type.

It's about ****ing time. Chuck Schumer should be ashamed of himself for all his grandstanding bullshit.

Agreed. Schumer has a long list of "accomplishments" for which he ought to be ashamed. this is one of them. the flip side is that now with Pelosi and Feinstein on higher doses of Aricept without any improvement in their cognitive decline, this Schumer jokester is apparently the "leader" of the democratic party.

Does it make a difference?

The Democrats never had any problem getting their nominees appointed. The GOP always gave the sitting Democratic president his Justices, even far left wackos like Kagan and Sotomayer. It's the Democrats who fight tooth and nail to keep the GOP's more conservative nominees off the bench. Remember Bork, Alito, Thomas, and now Gorsuch? With any luck Trump will be able to replace Ginsberg who is 87 with a Scalia clone setting the tone of the SCOTUS for years to come.

Glad Gorsuch is there, really wish they didn't have to go nuclear to do it but there was no option. Schumer made sure they needed the nuclear option so if the Dems ever get back in power they can use it to cram a bunch of moonbats on the SCOTUS and not be the ones who changed the precedent.

They won't wait for people to retire or die either, just ask the Scalia family. Heck, they are regretting they didn't off Ruthie a few years ago and get a young moonbat in when they were in power. They never thought they would lose the govt the way the just did. They won't make that mistake again if they get power back. She should be in the ground by then though.

I think Gorsuch needs to speak loudly at Ruthie with lots of exaggerated, fast, jerky movements. Hopefully he can induce a heart attack or stroke. I guess he'd have to wake her up first.

Very happy about Justice Gorsuch's confirmation. This was the most important reason why I voted for Trump.

As far as RBG, this video from rebel media explains the future of the liberal Justices under Trump's tenure. [cheers]

Not to mention allowing Ito and Thomas to retire.

Not a fan of the nuclear option, but it is what it is. If the Dems get the Supreme Court back, not much else will matter.

I don't know why they went to the mat on a guy that won unanimous approval (by some that voted no this time) when he was appointed to the appeals court.

Now the GOP can completely ignore the Dems when the next opening comes up. The Dems always did as there were always enough GOP that would vote for cloture (like Scotty) on insane picks.

I agree, but Trump should get 2 to 3 more seats filled, which should keep us covered for decades. Assuming that we control the Senate for a while.

interesting....

The Democrats made it sound like the death of the filibuster was the end of American democracy, which is ridiculous. As one senator put it so eloquently: “We need to call out these filibusters for what they are — naked attempts to nullify the results of the last presidential election.”

This solon is making sense. Keep talking, senator.

“(The president) has done what the Constitution requires him to do — nominated highly qualified people to fill open vacancies on the federal bench. If (members of the other party) continue to filibuster these highly qualified nominees for no reason other than to nullify the president’s constitutional authority, then senators not only have the right to change the filibuster rules, senators have a duty to change the filibuster rules.”

Do you know who said that? Elizabeth Warren, the fake Indian. Of course, she didn’t say it yesterday, she said it in November 2013, when the Democrats did away with the filibuster for lower-court judicial nominees, to strip the veto power from the then-Republican minority.

At the time the Democrats strong-armed the change through, U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell, then the minority leader, warned the then-majority that their high-handed actions would come back to haunt them.

Be careful what you wish for, Harry Reid and Chuck Schumer.
