Yesterday I picked up a Spanish Destroyer carbine (9mm Largo) at my local gun shop that I bought from a friend in Minnesota the; took it and a new to me Winchester 1907 .351 Self Loader to my local range.
The only two issues I had were there is no functional ejector in the Destroyer (either missing or broken) and the upper tang screws in the Winchester are not the correct screws and were a bit irritating in hand. Other then that I am impressed with the performance of both guns; the recoil of the Destroyer is minimal; as you would expect from a pistol caliber chambered carbine. I found a tutorial to convert 1911 .38 Super magazines (by cutting a notch in the back of the magazine) to use in the Destroyer; and still be able to use it in a 1911.
The other gun, which was my carry gun of the day, is my Sig Sauer RCS, a Commander sized slide (4.2" barrel) on an Officer's frame with Carbon Fiber Crimson Trace Stocks. Although I've never been a fan of lasers (despite owning 2 sets of CT grips, three laser/light combos, and two slide on lasers) after today I do see a practical use (other then the intimidation factor of a red dot on the bad guy's chest).
Yesterday at the range I tried the laser stocks at 10 yards and shot 15 rounds at it with the laser. It was a bright sunny day; 10 yards was about as far away as I could still see the laser on the target. When that errant shot (out side of the bullseye) fired I knew it was not a good shot.
