Gray Guns and VP9

I just picked up a P30S. The trigger reset is terrible (I knew that, but $200 rebate). Interested in your critique when it comes back.

Jason, I absolutely agree about the reset. I will post a quick review of the work when the P30 comes home. I have only heard fantastic things about Gray Guns and H&K triggers.

why is the reset terrible?
i have a P30LS (long slide) V3 variant and I love the trigger, including reset....is it the reset too far out for you?

I had a couple of SIGs done by GG. They made some promise to me and then renegged. I will never do business with them again.

I find the P30 trigger a bit heavy and somewhat inconsistent. The trigger needs to be almost released before reset. (version 3)

From GG website:

This package includes an internal over-travel stop as necessary and a 12lb mainspring is provided for a reduced DA trigger pull of proven reliability when tested with your carry ammo. This package includes our Proprietary Reduced Reset providing approx. 40-45 percent reduction in total trigger reset and reuptake travel while maintaining Firing Pin Block integrity and all other factory safety values. Includes refinishing of all fire control parts with Nickel PTFE for the smoothest and most durable action possible

Can't you just order one online?

Maybe. I've been lazy and just checking inventory of the few shops I know in the area. No one seems to have one. I hadn't thought to just ask if they could transfer one if I ordered it. I'll have to look to see if they are hard to come by online as well.

Try PPF in Woburn, $20 transfers and they were selling VP9s earlier for a good price ($630ish?).

Honestly i find the VP9 trigger about as easy as they come.
if someone is getting trigger job on a P30 or VP9 then youre either a picky bastard or you better be one freaking amazing shooter.

personally i like to adjust my shooting to a gun than adjust the gun to my shooting.

What sort of promise and what reason did they give for renegging?

The SIG X 5 All Around began to hammer follow as soon as I took it to the range. I contacted GG via email, explained the problem and requested a new part (sear) rather than ship the gun to the west coast. GG refused because they claimed that they had already sent me replacements parts. This was not true as the replacement parts they sent me involved a trigger job on another gun (P 226 Stainless) done the previous year.

I finally got Bruce on the phone (on my dime!) and explained that the parts request I made was for a second trigger job on another gun, not more parts for the original trigger job on the P 226 Stainless. He then told me to return the sear from the X 5 which he would then replace. Several months went by and no sear arrived. When I contacted GG they denied everything, including my conversation with Bruce. Fed up with GG, I asked only that they return the sear that I had shipped them, a $30 part. They refused.

I must admit that GG would have repaired the gun if I had shipped it to Oregon on their dime, but I was in no mood to ship guns coast to coast. One of the main reasons I sent GG a second gun for a trigger job was their willingness to replace parts rather than require that the gun be returned. My beef with them is that Bruce personally promised me to exchange the sear in my X 5 for a new one and failed to do so to the point of denying the conversation we had. IMHO the least he could have done was to return the original sear, $30 of my property.

A friend of mine also had GG do a trigger job on his SIG with bad results. He returned the gun to GG twice and they couldn't fix the problem (failures to fire). A trip to SIG in NH cured the problem. Merley mentioning GG in his presence is a bad idea.

any update? 300 is way too much for just a trigger job on a trigger that's not bad all, specially when you factor in the shipping charges.

I got my P30 back from Oregan...is the trigger nicer? It is extremely smooth with a excellent break. Firing in DA is like butter. Reset still long for my taste. Worth 300 bucks...probably not. Live and learn though.
