I was on the biggest muley buck I have ever seen. My wife and I original thought it was an elk. Had to work my way around and up a steep hill. Got to 240 yards but was walking straight away so I let it go. Sat on the area where I think he bedded but never saw him. Then we left because Cathy had a doe tag, as well as my son in law.

Within 30 minutes we were on a doe at 350 yards. Closed the gap to 200. Cathy set up the gun on the tripod and waited for the doe to turn broadside. I gave her the thumbs up. She pulls the trigger. Perfect heart shot. Deer jumps up takes two steps and drops.

We set my SIL off to find another while we break done the deer. Uggh, three mile hike with thing. 30 minutes later we hear a shot. He missed.

Well it's pitch dark by the time we get out. Cathy and I are wiped. Those hills suck when you have a load on your back.

Following morning we head out again. Three miles in. See some bucks but no shot opportunity. Plus I want that big one.

Bunch of does though so my SIL drops one at 150 yards. Uggh, gotta lug it out. Fortunately this time he took most of the load.

We leave for deer camp Wednesday.

And I have to give a shameless plug for my homemade game bags. Four deer hauled out so far and they have held up great. This time they were blood soaked. Threw them in cold water and they perfectly white again. Air dries in minutes. Bones don't puncture them. Dirt won't penetrate while on the ground with meat in them. They are durable.
