Gun Storage Law Question

My parents hated motorcycles. Hated with a passion. I was forbidden to ride one, let alone own one.

LOL, same here. I still remember when my dad saw my bike in the garage when he was dropping off some furniture. All he said was "nice bike."

Tell your buddy to get his LTC.

Not just for this temporary problem, but because having a shooting buddy is a good thing.
He has expressed interest but he’s a systems engineer and travels often for work so he hasn’t had a chance to yet. Hopefully he’ll take a class soon and plink with me in NH.

My parents hated motorcycles. Hated with a passion. I was forbidden to ride one, let alone own one. They came up to CT for my wedding and my mother asked my best man why I was limping. He told her that I'd dumped my bike the day before, and she thought he meant that I'd fallen off of my bicycle. He corrected her, at which point she came to me and asked me how long I'd had a motorcycle - and why hadn't I told them? Told her the truth. I bought my first bike the day I turned 21 and I didn't tell them because I knew it would just upset them.

They weren't thrilled with my tattoos - and I showed my mom the video from the first time I went skydiving.

Pick your battles and remember that your parents won't be here forever.

That's funny, I grew up roadracing and riding flat track (at Bryar/Louden/NHIS mostly). My dad ran the club that put on the races. So my parents didn't have a problem with my riding or racing.

But my dad having been rear ended at a toll booth by a drunk driver, forbade me from buying a street bike and riding on the street for as long as he was helping out with my college.

I got my first streetbike at 18 and kept it in a friend's garage. I never got in an accident but after a couple of close calls, I stopped riding on the street under all but the most perfect conditions. And no commuting. My parents found out when I was about 21, but also found out that I wasn't riding much other than fun rides on Sunday. So it wasn't a big deal.

Nice. How did she find it if you don't mind me asking?
She was putting a blanket away in my room and opened up one of the drawers and I had it originally wrapped up in a blanket there but it’s been freezing the past few nights so I took the blanket out and left it in the drawer. Sloppy of me :p ; but I feel a lot better now that I came clean about it.

My Mom just found my rifle-cleaning kit, so I just told my parents and showed them my LTC. It turns out they didn’t even care that much, and all is well.
Next time keep it with your porn collection

You need a better relationship with your parents. Jack
Yup.
just curious, how old are you? just askin' is all. [wink]

Might be time to move out.

I remember my dad bringing me to the police station when I was 15 to get my FID card.
I hope you can work things out, good luck.

My Dad bought me and my brothers shotguns when we turned 16.

GREAT idea!

I see you spoke with your mother. Maybe they'll come around. You could always rent a small storage area.

... or get some furniture with secret compartments:

Already have a storage unit. No need for the sneaking around now that they know I own firearms. That’s awesome about your father buying you and your brothers shotguns though. My ex bought me a sweet snub-nose 38 spl. for my birthday. I was gonna sell it after we broke up but then I decided no need to throw the proverbial baby out with the bathwater. I lived with my girlfriend (ex now) for a year and a half so I feel living with my parents will be temporary. Just waiting to finish this last semester of grad school to decide what my next move will be.

My mom’s intro to the idea of me riding and my first bike was when she pulled into my driveway one Saturday and I said “Got something to show you” and hit the garage remote button. One could have broken the news more tactfully ...

Now she just rolls her eyes when I get another one.q
