Gun Value?

Sorry if I am in the wrong place for this post. I am thinning out the safe and was wondering what the membership thought about for prices for a couple guns I am planning on selling.
First one is a 586 S&W 357, Blue with the factory laser etching. Beautiful gun. Gun is 95% with box and paperwork. No factory lock.
Second one is a Colt Mustang in nickel. Same story 95% with box.
Any ideas on value? I was thinking around $500 for a starting point on Gunbroker and seeing where they go. Just don't want to start too low or too high.

Dave, gunbroker or other auction sites should give you a good ballpark. Pictures might help us as well.

I was on Gunbroker but can not find the laser etched in any S&W model either on auction or completed. Same for the Nickel Mustang. All I saw was blue and stainless. Will post pic when I get a chance

are you sure the Mustang is nickel, and not a brushed stainless?

Definitely Nickel. Says Nickel on the original box also.

2008 Shideler Price Guide.

I have a 2008 price guide that lists the Colt Mustang (this guide lists no dates but the older model had a 5 round magazine) as NIB $350 Exc. $300, V.G. $250, etc. Add 10% for Nickle or Stainless.

There is a newer (also discontinued) model with a 7 round magazine and it seems this one was not offered in nickle.

This guide only lists a 1986 586 MA State Police Commemorative with no price info.

Four Seasons has a used MA State Police 586 with a display box for sale for $799 on their used gun page. If that helps.........

The Standard Catalog of S&W lists the 586 as:
ANIB: 700 Exc: 525 CG: 350 Good:300

Produced from 1980 - 1999.

A lot of the commemorates, there are a couple of dozen had various amount of etching.
