H&K USP Compact LEM .40

I got a usp compact 9 varient 1 and love it. I thought about getting the kit to make it lem but I like carrying it cocked and locked. Its a good gun. Put about 300 rounds in it every time I go to the range. Eats any type of ammo

Meh.

It is overly large compared to a Glock 23 and the LEM trigger is only fair. It is reliable and the sights are good. The Glock 23 has a significantly lower bore axis.

I had a .40 USPc variant 1 and I sold it. I've also fired a USPc LEM and was underwhelmed.

I bought a Usp compact 9 for edc as my first gun too, it looks really pretty, but then after that you start to carry it around and its a beast of a gun to carry. Its nice ergonomics and feel are top notch, but then i tried shooting glocks, while it hits harder into your hand, there is less muzzle flip due to low bore axis , and for the money , 800 uspc vs. 500 for a glock it starts to look expensive. Sold it for a glock 26 gen 3 and never looked back. I actually felt safer using the DA/SA vs the LEM version though i was shooting a friends light lem config and i didnt like the long travel in lem that weighed nothing , id say thats easier to discharge than the little glock safety trigger. Save you money and buy a glock.

I had one for quite a while. As it was the issue handgun with the border patrol (yes I know that they now carry H&K P2000's) I was shooting it as much as I could to become more familiar with the pistol should I make it through the hireing process to be an agent. I really liked the H&K, it shoots very well, it's easy to maintain, and it did turn me into a fanboy of H&K. I'm not a huge fan of the LEM trigger, because it removes the safty from the pistol. But, it's still my top "dishwasher safe pistol" Seeing how expinsive they are here in MA, I wish I hadn't sold mine for $500 prior to moving.

If this is going to be your first/one and only, "Get a Glock". Preferably Glock 19.
Without getting into caliber wars, .40 doesn't offer much over a quality 9mm cartridge. However, I own P2000 and P2000SK with LEM triggers. I think LEM is the way to go, as it keeps manual of arms similar to other handguns and removes the safety that protrudes. The LEM I have is fairly light. You can also change the weigh of LEM trigger from heavy to a lighter variant.
As other said, the LEM trigger has also a little longer trigger pull compared to TDA or Glock "safe action". However, with training this won't be an issue.
I think P2000 has a slight edge in terms of a little better ergonomics, but either of the two HK's would be good.
