DSA has recently started selling limited batches of the Rhodesian Halbek device. These are originals, not reproductions. I had basically written off getting one as they don't pop up very often and the FAL Files has been littered with "WTB" postings for as long as I've poked around there.

I managed to score one for my R1 FAL.

They are configurable for right-handed or left-handed shooters, which is nice.

When mine comes in, I'll do some testing.

A nice thing to be excited about during these otherwise crummy times!

Watched the vid. Interesting. Looks to me like it makes the recoil counterintuitive?

The Halbek basically pushes the gun down. Rhodesia fielded more full auto FALs rather than semi-auto only L1A1s, so their goal was to make a full-auto FAL more manageable. I would imagine if you spent some time with it, you'd be fine with the downward recoil impulse.

Here's a picture from one of DSA's people. He mentioned that the rust was getting cleaned off. The amount that they found couldn't have been that big, no more than a hundred total. They had three batches of like 51, 23, and 21 according to people on FALFiles.

I'm curious how effective these would be as part of a double tap drill?
