Have you ever thought about using graphite as a lubricant? Don't, heres why.

I've never seen graphite used as a lubricant except for pinewood derby cars. My preferred lubricant is spray-on teflon. Interesting report nonetheless.
 
There is however a dry film lubricant that will work just fine, not susceptible to moisture,cold etc. Sandstrom 28A. You can get it in aerosol cans or pints. I buy it by the pint and apply with artist brush. Expensive but a pint will last you 10 years. Check their factory website.
