Anyone out there have 3 of the same model? Same caliber and everything.

1 for backup/heirloom that you dont want to use
2. Main carry peice - low round count but enough for reliability
3. Range gun - one to toss around , get scrapped up, less cleaning , etc?

Ive got 2 glock 19's and thinking of getting a third after i give the 17 to my brother. Is that odd ? It will take care of #3. I stead of doing both 2 and 3.

All I will say is there are 3 shooters in my family and everyone having the same gun makes a WHOLE lot of sense to me.

A well-known gun expert advised having at least two of your main carry gun in the event you are involved in a shooting and have to turn in that gun for the investigation. Then you have a replacement which you are familiar with.

As far as any more justification for multiple guns, it's up to you. Who cares what anyone else thinks.

If you are in MA I would think they would take ALL of your guns or at least suspend your right to keep them until an investigation is over if you are involved in a shooting.

That being said, go for 3. Why not? More guns more fun.

yeah thats what i was thinking too. Prob suspend your license as well. thats just a guess tho. I have zero info on how it works.

I am not trying to be a smart ass, but a Glock as a family heirloom?

I have gotten up to 2 of the same but never really thought a 3rd was necessary. Now if its a variation then I might consider but the same stock gun no 3 is a bit much for me.

It's nice to have a a few options for trades though so duplicates are completely fine in my mind.

Do M91's count? I actually have 3 each of 4 differant guns although not all exactly the same. (3) M91's, (3) 1911's and (4) Ak's....then I do have a lot of doubles...

Meh, I once bought five handguns of the same kind. I like to standardize. I find something that works, I will stick with it.

I'm still experimenting single malt scotch though. I like so many of them and it's hard to just pick one.

the army vet from wwII that was at the recent Plymouth show had 4 of the same.

a garand for each year, '41 to '44, in a wood crate,a most awesome !

It might make sense for a LEO or free stater, but in MA, it just gives one more gun to be confiscated.

Always have at least two of anything, three if you can afford it. If I ever find that perfect does everything, never use anything else firearm, I will probably have at least five of them.

some guns I can see owning a few of, just maybe different models. 1911's for sure are the first thing i think of.

When I buy a gun I either like it and buy a second one or not like it and sell it. So I have ended up with pairs of everything I own. A friend recently told me I have a Noah's ark complex with my gun purchases.

That's been my approach all along. I always laugh at the SHTF scenarios where folks chime talking about what seven different guns they'd take along, just have all their bases covered. My approach has always been to buy in a way that allows all able bodied members of the group to carry a primary and back-up and that these should share common ammo and magazines whenever possible.

I've got three Saiga 7.62x39 rifles, but they all look different now.

I've got about five M91/30s, because I like the way they smell.

Having a Glock sitting around that won't get rounds put through it is pointless, unless it's going to be set aside for a special purpouse down the road.

It's JUST a Glock. The entire POINT of the gun is so you can drag it down the road sideways, still shoot it, and not care about it.. that's why I own them.

i think 2 of the same is weird... so you should sell me one of your glock 19s.... better yet, i'll trade you one of my CZ-82s so neither of us will be weird :)

I have three Ruger 10/22s. Mainly to give to my kids when they are big enough, and when I bring people to shoot, there's no waiting for a turn.

can't can't have too many 10/22s, i have 4 total... 2 LTRs, one borrowed and a 4th that's just a stock and barrel so far....

Why not keep the 17, get rid of one of the 19s and pick up a 26? That way you are always shooting the same platform for familiarity, but actually have 3 different guns. I have all 3 and enjoy them all. I'm also doing the same thing in .45, I've got a 21 and a 30 and will add a 36 at some point.

This guy owned like 6 of them at once, although I think he posted another video where he said he only has 3 now... [rofl]

I felt weird buying a 2nd glock22 but am justifying it by turning old one into a "range gun" and getting a 9mm conversion barrel for it.
This thread has eased my guilt (not that it was bothering me)!
