Searched around, couldn't find an answer to this.

Looking at various ARs. Don't want to build one from scratch.

Several gun shops have told me the following different things on colt ARs.

1. Can't get them in MA
2. Can get them in MA, but not the LE models (see this link http://www.coltsmfg.com/Catalog/ColtRifles/ColtCarbinesII.aspx )
3. Can get them in MA, but only pre ban?

I know LGS wants to sell what is on their shelf, but would be more than glad to order it if I could.

Could anyone shed some light on this. SWAR15T is $1k. My understanding is that a colt can be around that, but is supposedly better. I am not trying to start a thread about the diff in AR models, there are enough of those that I read, just want to know what I can get. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure all new colts have collapsible stocks and flash hiders, so new ones you won't be able to acquire from an ffl in MA. Prebans ARE legal to get in MA.

What you really need to think about is the 5 evil features if it's not pre-ban. It doesn't matter what brand manufacturer it is.

Why Colt? There are plenty of other ARs out there that are at least as good for less or similar money.

Colt makes ban compliant rifles. Try an MT6400R or MT6400. They call them "Match Target" even though there is nothing "match" about them. They sell them in CT, which if I'm not mistaken, has pretty much the same AWB rules as MA.

They sell the same rifles in Ma, I have one and have seen them recently at a gun store in Huidson.

If you want a Colt get a preban, that way you can do what you want with it. Otherwise, build buy something else if you are going to have an AR with its "junk cut off."

Thank you. I didn't even bother to look at these since on the website they said 'match target'. Mike G, any idea roughly what they were asking for this?

Too much, think they wanted around $1500 for a MT6400R. Not sure if they would budge on price. If interested pm me and I will send their info.
