Shield.
I'm no gunsmith but I bought a HiViz front sight for my Shield. Was reading up on how to do it, and watched some videos. Seemed simple enough. Took longer than I expected but it's on there, but I'm not sure if it's on there correctly.
To the naked eye it looks centered.
Took it to the range today. Miss after miss after miss. Not just me, I had a couple other people at the range shoot it as well. Same thing, mostly misses.

What should my next step be?
Are there any gunsmiths on the north shore besides Lou? I know how backed up he is and feel like this can be solved quickly.
If anyone on here thinks they can help that would be awesome too.

Thanks guys, all advice is appreciated.

what are you aiming at? What distance? How much are you missing by? Did you shoot from a bench rested position?

details man!

Is the height of the sight correct? Are you shooting high or low? If you are then you'll need either a shorter or taller sight.

If It's shooting left or right, just drift it sideways in the groove. To make the point of impact move left, drift the front sight right. Do the opposite to move the POI right.

50 yards like this

No but really.
Standing. Just 21 ft. WHEN it actually hits the paper it's very low, but not right or left. Just barely hitting the bottom of an 8.5x11" target. User error? Maybe. Anyone wanna give it a shot?

I didn't even think to compare the sights, height wise. I will do that.

Thought I did, I'll be more specific I guess,
Aiming at the middle of a target on an 8.5/11 piece of paper at 21 ft. Standing, no bench. IF it actually hits the paper it is low, very bottom of paper. The sights are the same height (HiViz and sotck front sight).

Yes Yanici I'm using image 3

Did the gun shoot accurately with the original stock front sight? If it did then the new sight has to be a different height.

The stock front sight is back on the gun and it;s shooting fine again.....weird. They were the same height.......

That can't be right. Installed, they have to be at a different height above the bore. Otherwise it makes no sense.

I checked the Hi Viz website and the same sight that fits the standard M&P they list as fitting the Shield as well.
But here is the interesting thing. I've been looking for night sights for my Shield and have been waiting for Trijicon to come out with Shield sights because Trijicon said the Shield sights have to be a different height than the standard M&P sights.
Finally, the guy at Trijicon said to buy Ameriglo sights because Trijicon makes their inserts. I just had the Ameriglo's installed this week and haven't gone to the range yet.
So I'm guessing the height is the issue with your new sights.
