HK 416

Does anyone know whether HK ever sold a civilian version of this rifle? I know that HK is a boil that needs to be lanced,but a freind just texted me a bunch of questions on it and i answered them to the best of my knowledge and I heard rumors that they were going to sell them but AFAIK nothing ever came of it.

Yes, according to a quick Google search...

Civilian variants of the HK416 and HK417 were announced in 2007, named MR223 and MR308.[12] Both are semi-automatic rifles with several 'sporterized' features. At the 2009 SHOT Show, these two firearms were introduced to the American civilian market renamed respectively MR556 and MR762.[13]
