I have an SKS carbine and I have been looking for a 5rd capacity non-removable magazine for it to use for hunting. NH might be very liberal, but they limit semi-automatic hunting rifles to 5rd capacity.

Does anyone know of a 5rd capacity solution for the SKS that doesn't involve converting it to a removable magazine?

If removable is the only solution available - are there any highly reliable removable magazine solutions?

I've seen fixed 5 round magazines. They fit flush with the stock and work just like the original 10 rounders.
Detachable ones should work because you're only using 5 rounds. Normally the only time someone runs into feeding troubles with an SKS and aftermarket mags is when they try for the 20 or 30 round cheapie ones.
Check gunbroker for 5 round mags and look for the ones that fit flush.

Thanks everyone for the information.

I like the 7.62x39 as a hunting round. You're still getting a nice, heavy .30 caliber spitzer round at good velocity but in a much shorter package and up here in NH, needing the full range of a .308 Winchester or larger .30 caliber round is unusual.
