I was taking my muzzle-loading course at the rod and gun club, and one of the instructors had brought in some muzzle-loading pistols to show us.I saw a reproduction of a .44 cap and ball revolver. When I picked it up,Everything in the universe ceased to exist except me and that gun.It felt like an extension of my own arm.My body and the gun worked in perfect unison.Every mechanism in the gun was smooth and crisp.Within a minute I knew the gun in and out.It was pure bliss. It was like in a movie when the protagonist is looking through cars or weapons and finds the perfect one.The communist state of MA won't let me be with my love because I'm not 21.[hmmm][sad][crying] WHY!!! THEY HAVE NO RIGHT TO SEPERATE ME FROM LOVE!!!

So MGL really considers that a "Handgun"?

I thought BP was exempt, for the most part. I do know, however, there is case law saying you need to have an LTC to -carry- a BP handgun, but don't know if it is required for "mere posession".

Yes.Don't worry I'm voting Mccain

Not only that but it's the local stuff that's important too. We need more young people like yourself getting active for this side of the argument. MA is liberal, that's an obvious statement and one that is going to hamper our freedoms. Oddly enough that sort of contradicts what one generally thinks of when they hear the term "liberal" doesn't it? Well that topic has been beaten to death, but anyway it is what it is.

The thing is, there are a lot of people out there who feel the way we all do here. It just seems to me that the liberals are far more motivated to get out there and voice their opinions, vote, and raise awareness for their side of the story. It's a sort of phenomenon if you will. I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but it's refreshing to see someone your age not fall under the spell of the nanny state.

I hope you didn't get any on you![laugh]

BTW, Mr. Coyle is right.

Yes.MA considers a BP gun a handgun.

Eddie,Are you calling .44 revolvers toys?I'd like to know what you consider a power tool

Bando Red, Big Jim is the recoil king here on NES. He's got the biggest, baddest handguns, and knows how to use them. [wink]

I guess from his point of view a Black Powder .44 isn't much more than a Pop Gun. [grin]

Take his advice, sign up green and let him set you up. You'll love shooting one of his guns... once! [rofl]

But then I LOL'd

I believe due to the black powder it does not require you to be 21 only 18. I am pretty sure this right because my brother who is 19 already bought 2 or 3 and he is looking at another one, and he bought all of these from GUNSHOPS. also when we where in agun shop the other day my brother asked the owner is that a BP revolver and the owner said "yep it is so you can get it" (he knows my brother and I very well due to all the guns we have bought from him) my brother even forgot his FID there once after buying a gun and the owner had to call us at home.

Did that guy from the turkey shoot get the cast off his forearm yet?

Dude, you don't know the half of it.

Seriously. A BP gun? Sign up green and I'll set you up.
Be afraid... be very afraid. EC is a serious recoil whore; he lives for that. [wink]

I think M44 is correct; try checking Callaghan's in Marlborough. If any gunshop would know the correct law on this subject, this would be the place.

[laugh2] I think Derek should consider adding the title "Recoil Whore" to Jim's "Moderator" title under his Avatar. And on Jim's say so, I think Tele Mark should get the same!!! [smile]

Bando, BOBKATT hit the nail on the head. It's not just the Presidential vote that's important. Continue to educate yourself about local politics. Contact your local politicians. Be polite, concise, and clear. Here in the People's Republic of Massachusetts you may feel that you're shouting into the wilderness, but the alternative is to do nothing and just watch the insanity continue. When I write my State Senator I don't even get a reply. That's okay, but I keep writing. Politicians only understand two things: 1) not getting elected/re-elected, and 2) not having money to play with, since money buys votes. If the volume of unhappy letters increases, politicians will take notice (see point #1 [wink]).

At your young age you've already experienced the heavy hand of government and you know how it feels. Congratulations. You're light years ahead of many people in your age bracket who seem to desperately need a reality check.

Keep the faith, and good luck to you.

I'll climb down from my soapbox now.

Yes.MA considers a BP gun a handgun.

I believe it depends on the application. For instance, you do not need a LTC to purchase one. However, If you were to carry one concealed you need an ALP LTC.

I might be wrong, but I think I'm right.(famous last words)
