It's worth pointing out for anyone who may be looking to join and doesn't know anyone at the club: if you show up and make a reasonable account of yourself, someone from the Board will sponsor you. When I'd first joined HSC (I'd lapsed several years back only because I wasn't doing much shooting at the time), I'd showed up without a sponsor. Also, IIRC, your sponsor doesn't need to attend the meeting with you (I could be wrong on that though)

That's correct. The sponsor really isn't a big deal. I showed up without my sponsor there, and I've sponsored a few folks without showing up myself. And, as you said, even without a sponsor if you show up at the meeting you'll get a sponsor there without much trouble.

EC, I'd be happy to sponsor you, but it looks like there's plenty of folks who are willing.
