Imbel FAL holes in gas tube?

Does anyone know if these holes should have a pin in it? Just broke it down for the first time and can't find the info online. When I shot the gun the gas system was not cycling properly. I'm guessing this may be the culprit.

Should there be a roll pin here to retain the gas piston?

I believe mine has the same thing on it. I would ask over at FALfiles. You'll probably get a better answer than here.

Bump. Some here knows just need them to see thread. Does your have a PIN or open? If open does it cycle properly.

Shouldn't have a pin other wise your piston won't be able to operate. just stripped mine and its open is open. Gun functions fine.

its normal to have the holes ita a vent hole for the piston
btw anyone need a gas regulator for the l1a1? I was planning on doing a karma on the falfiles but if anyone here can use it its theirs for a 5.00 dollar bill to cover shipping
