With the all out assault on Trump and US(white conservatives, gunowners, capitalists, etc.) and the Dems tacking hard left conflict is inevitable IMHO. The Leftists are spoiling for a fight, encouraging violence and branding anyone who isn't like them a violent racist, homophobe, bigot, etc. They are still crazed with anger and hatred for their devastating loss and actually believe the whole Russian collusion hoax. They believe WE stole the election from them and they want payback NOW! Before I was banned from posting comments on the Boston Globe I tried to explain to them that attacking heavily armed fellow citizens was a fools mission but they don't care. They will never be convinced they LOST the election fair and square so they don't recognize President Trump and hate us more than you can imagine. It's gonna get ugly folks.

"At a moment when the country has never seemed angrier, two political commentators from opposite sides of the divide concurred last week on one point, nearly unthinkable until recently: The country is on the verge of "civil war."

First came former U.S. attorney Joseph diGenova, a Fox News regular and ally of President Trump. "We are in a civil war," he said. "The suggestion that there's ever going to be civil discourse in this country for the foreseeable future is over. . . . It's going to be total war."

The next day, Nicolle Wallace, a former Republican operative turned MSNBC commentator and Trump critic, played a clip of diGenova's commentary on her show and agreed with him - although she placed the blame squarely on the president.

Trump, she said, "greenlit a war in this country around race. And if you think about the most dangerous thing he's done, that might be it."

With the report by special counsel Robert Mueller reportedly nearly complete, impeachment talk in the air and the 2020 presidential election ramping up, fears that once existed only in fiction or the fevered dreams of conspiracy theorists have become a regular part of the political debate. These days, there's talk of violence, mayhem and, increasingly, civil war.

A tumultuous couple of weeks in American politics seem to have raised the rhetorical flourishes to a new level and also brought a troubling question to the surface: At what point does all the alarmist talk of civil war actually increase the prospect of violence, riots or domestic terrorism?

Speaking to conservative pundit Laura Ingraham, diGenova summed up his best advice to friends: "I vote, and I buy guns. And that's what you should do."

Civil War is the next step after referring to your political enemies as "Nazi's." It means nothing if they are unwilling to take up arms. . . . which they believe no one has a right to own in the first place.

People have such a low sense of words today. They don't MEAN anything anymore. I'm sure the next step is to talk of Treason. "He's committing treason! He's treasonous. We should beat him with a treason-stick from the treason-tree."

James Fearon, who researches political violence at Stanford University, called the pundits' warnings "basically absurd." But he noted that political polarization and the possibility of a potentially serious constitutional crisis in the near future does "marginally increase the still very low odds" of a stalemate that might require "some kind of action by the military leadership."

This is things I’ve talked about with actual marines and army currently enlisted. The ones I’ve spoken with will uphold the constitution. So if the election results in Trump losing, he’ll be leaving. Now that could be selection bias on my part based on who I choose to hang out with, but I don’t think honk we’ll have a military coup. If one was attempted, I think you’d see elements of units firing in each other.

I do think we’re already in a civil war. The Democrats have refused to accept the 2018 election results and are tormenting unrest in the streets. Obama’s OFA is a paramilitary structure similar to the SA and the brown shirts and Lenin’s Reds. So, the Democrats are building organizational units to seize power.

The shooting hasn’t started yet. They, the Democrats, will be the first to shoot, just like last time. The results will be the same as last time, but sherman’s March to the sea style operation will this time leave LA and Chicago and NY and every other shot hole urban area in the country, burning and wrecked.

I was listening to Breitbart this morning and a HS teacher called in to comment on the Red for Ed movement. She stated that if teachers are outed as conservatives or Trump supporters they are black balled in the schools and fellow teachers will tell students they're racists and white supremacists. She also stated that History teachers are encouraged to only teach American history after 1945 and to focus on Civil Rights and America's violent racist past and foreign policy failures in Latin America and Southeast Asia. They are indoctrinating a whole generation of America hating kids who will grow up to be far left Dems who hate America, white folks, conservatives, Christians, Capitalists, gun owners, free speech, etc. We have met the enemy and they are our fellow citizens.

Meh, what are we going to go to war over, the green new deal?
Not WE, THEM. As I stated above they are so filled w/hatred and anger they do not think rationally. They really believe destroying the President and his supporters is their moral obligation. They are as fanatical as ISIS jihadists.

More demonization from the left. This is how they rationalize they're actions against the opposition, anyone who's a devout Christian is EVIL.

"Former Vice President Joe Biden on Thursday clarified that "there is nothing decent about being anti-LGBTQ" after he took fire from usually friendly sources over calling Vice President Mike Pence a "decent guy."

"There is nothing decent about being anti-LGBTQ rights, and that includes the vice president," Biden tweeted.

Biden, who is almost certain to launch a presidential bid for 2020, made the "decent guy" comment about Pence at a Forum in Global Leadership at the University of Nebraska-Omaha on Thursday.

The comment lit up social media, with critics of Pence demanding that Biden reassess his opinion. Pence's stance on homosexuality, including opposing same-sex marriage legislation, has earned him strong opponents among the LGBTQ community.

Actress and former New York gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon (D) tweeted, "@JoeBiden you’ve just called America’s most anti-LGBT elected leader 'a decent guy.' Please consider how this falls on the ears of our community."

Biden responded that he "was making a point in a foreign policy context" at the event, but acknowledged Nixon's point."

Biden in Omaha was referring to Pence's reception at the Munich Security Conference earlier this month, according to CNN.

"The fact of the matter is it was followed on by a guy who's a decent guy, our vice president, who stood before this group of allies and leaders and said, 'I'm here on behalf of President Trump,' and there was dead silence. Dead silence," Biden said.

NBC News reported in 2017 that Biden is friendly with Pence and at that time spoke to him about once a month."

I'd say its a product of the 24/7 news generation. EVERYTHING has to be sensational in order to keep people watching. Suddenly, words have no meaning other than shock-value.

Best day at CNN ever:

This.
Desensitized.

What strikes me(and no, we’re not going to war with each other) is the inability to have a coherent conversation.
People who don’t support Trump are leftist extremists and people who do support Trump, are racist nazi’s.
What the hell? Where’d the middle ground go? Labels are dangerous and over used these days. We’re desensitized to what we’re actually accusing each other of being.

I heard an interesting loose statistic a few months ago. This country is divided into thirds not in half. 1 side hates this country, 1 side luvs it and 1 side doesn’t give 2 shits. The last time we were like this is when the civil war happened. Very interesting. I will continue to vote and buys guns. Good post.

Correct, the firearms I own now are far superior to the POS M16 I was issued in the Army/NG/Reserves. My M4 and X95 far exceed the rattle trap's I was issued in the Military, now all I need is a good SAW/M249 to make it real interesting. AOC was threatening her fellow Dems with harassment from her Snowflake Brigade for voting with Republicans in the House this week.
"
House Democrats held an emotional debate behind closed doors Thursday over how to stop losing embarrassing procedural battles with Republicans — a clash that exposed the divide between moderates and progressives.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) took a hard line at the caucus meeting, saying that being a member of Congress sometimes requires taking tough votes.

“This is not a day at the beach. This is the Congress of the United States,” Pelosi said, according to two sources.

Pelosi also said vulnerable Democrats who had the “courage” to vote against the Republican motions to recommit would become a higher priority for the party leadership and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee."

And Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the superstar New York freshman lawmaker, suggested she would alert progressive activists when Democrats are voting with the GOP on these motions, said the sources."

Civil unrest / war will come not because of pay inequity, racism, or any of the other derogatory categorizations of the left. Nor will it come due to the political differences between the right and the left. It will come because the left in ever increasing numbers view the right, especially whites, as sub-human. The logical reason to foster such an inane premise is to justify the removal of the bill of right protections from our society so that government may use force without constraint against any who oppose the official government line. We can see the beginnings of this in the Antifa, BLM, and other radical groups engaging in violence and protests against individual citizens with the intention to dehumanize, intimidate and silence their political voice. We also see that government is excessively corrupt….officials openly disregard the constitution….violate laws….regularly act against the will of the electorate to cater to campaign dollars and the “party line”. It will not be a single issue that starts the next civil war but many issues exacerbated by party self interest and government malfeasance coupled with the lack of interest in the left to protect the common person from criminal harm.

Today’s email. They’re organizing. Are we? Do we have to?

Everything with these folks is the movement. And making ‘the other’. As long as there is ‘movement’ anything is justified.

I said this before in other threads on this topic. I don’t think a full blown war will ever happen until the economy collapses. Right now too many ppl are doing well. You need enough ppl who are hurting and feel like they have little to loose. Without this element, all you get are sporadic Furgasons and LA riots. We are definitely in a political civil war right now. It needs an economic collapse for it to become a shooting war.

There will not be a civil war.

What are we going to fight about?
Who will fund it?

People with guns dont win a civil war. People with guns and powerful people backing them win a civil war.

So, unless one side gets backing from another government (because I dont see business owners in the US backing a civil war), I am not sure how you will have a civil war.

Impeachment talks - was the same with Obama for 8 years and will be the same with the next President. Nothing new. We have been talking about impeaching whoever is in office since I moved to this country (over 16 years ago).

There wont be a civil war because someone doesnt like the use of the word Black, or because someone is refering to someone as HE/SHE or whatever other stupid thing people are arguing about this week.

Edit: only to fix a spelling mistake.

What About gun confiscation,70% tax rate, bread lines???? The list goes on and on. U gonna sit by and go for that? Might be a real possibility after Trump.

So they dislike Trump? Is that worth picking up a gun and shooting someone over? They way I see it is unless we had a real serious constitutional crisis on our hands, like an unconstitutional power grab, say the state claiming ownership of all private property, then there's isn't going to be a war. The one thing I love about our form of government is that it is essentially weak. They really can't do much. Oh sure legislators can pass dumb laws and hit a few people, but to arrest millions? It just isn't going to happen. I listen to left winger and right wingers and all I her is blah blah blah, and talk is cheap, but actual action involves risk and possibly landing on the wrong side of history.

I think without a doubt if there was a civil war (which is unlikely) foreign powers would definitely be picking sides and backing them with funds and military force. I think Europe, China and Russia would love it.
Depending how it happens, I think they would hate it. Specially China.

Think about economics (which in the end is all that matters). We are Chinas biggest customer. We stop buying, China stops producing. Brazil is Chinnas biggest provider of raw materials. China stops producing, Brazil stops selling. The Brazilian economy goes to sh*t, the LATAM economy goes to sh*t, China drags other countries down...and so on.

Europe sells a lot to the US.

Now, if a civil war is a full blown war all over the country, then it is bad for everyone.

If a civil war is in specific locations, or it is wages by guerrilla groups acting as terrorists putting a bomb here and there, then I dont see the world economy affected, as everyone would go along with their lives, except you will have the occasional shoot out or bus blow up.

FYI...I still think nothing will happen.

No keyboard commando free, a citizen who is not going to wait until Maura, Nancy, AOC or their snowflake Brigades get enough power to enact their anti-American agenda. Be Prepared! Know your enemy! Have a plan.

I don't see bread lines.

I dont see 70% taxation. Maybe when you add up all the taxes (excise, home, income...) it adds up to that, but the majority of people say they dont like it and move on.

Gun confiscation - Besides a group of people during Katrina, I haven't seen this. Where is this happening?

I think if someone proposed full blown gun confiscation, you might have a few gun owners shoot people, but you wont have groups organizing as militias and fighting the government to establish a new government. These groups wouldn't accomplish anything without backing from powerful people. Business is good now, who will back them?

And the right way of preparing is posting online, in a public forum, saying you are preparing for a war?

Great idea.

I liked the SAW, used to run the qual range for SAW's, M60's and the M240B's when we finally got them. Now talk about a POS, the M60. I hated that thing, to many parts and way outdated. Afetr my first field exercise/AT I ended up humping the 60 because all the gunners ended up going down in the 90 deg, humid weather. After we got back from the field I was cleaning the damn thing and when I went to put it back together couldn't find the little rounded part that went over the spring for the trigger group. My Sqd. Leader made me low crawl around the blacktop looking for the damn thing while everyone else was turning in weapons. Everyone was pissed because we couldn't get released until I turned in the 60 and low and behold my Sqd Ldr looks down and there it is, on a piece of asphalt I covered 10 times. He dropped it there, he just wanted to f*** with me. Welcome to the Army PFC.
