I'd like to buy a couple boxes, just to see if my rifle likes it.

Any body seen it for sale in any shop in MA or southern NH?

UPDATE: 9/2

Cabelas in Hudson has some on the shelf.

If it's the IMI "razor core" OTM 77gn stuff I have not seen any in SE MA. Picked up some on a group buy
For what it's worth I tested it against hornady and PPU 75gn match....PPU DID the best.

Shot from my RRA NM rifle from a rest.... also the 75gn Wolf Gold ammo is hard to beat for the price.

Is the twist on your rifle 1:8?

Yes it is...
Just for info my basic A2 with 1:9 NATO shoots my 77 gn nosler custom comp ammo under 1.5" from a rest with iron sights..... the groups I'm sure would be smaller with a scope or better eyes.
You just never know what's going to do well in your rifle.
Another tidbit. My basic A2 1:9 shoots wolf steel 55 gn on average 2.5" or so....in my scoped varmint build with 1/8 heavy barrel wolf is laughable I'm talking 6-8 moa.

I reload my own version. Anyone have ballistic info on the load?

Only thing I found is the velocity i2700-2750 fps @ the muzzle. Sierra matchking bullet with cannelure.

OP keep your eyes open for black hills OTM ammo it's essentially the same thing.
No idea what bullet Israelis are loading could be a sub,par knock off of the match king?

Looking through my records last night, the closest I ever got to 2700 fps was with 23.7 grains of Varget. At which point the cases started to get trashed and I was getting random fliers
I dropped the charge down to 22.5 and am getting 2550-2600 fps and was getting accurate groupings at 200 yards.

The ballistic chart revealed that comparing the two loads, the later begins to drop off at 300 with the difference at 500 yards being 12.5".

Even though I don't shoot that far, I live and shoot near the ocean and a cross breeze is always a factor and the heavier bullets stabilize better in it.

the nato chamber runs to 62,000 vs sammi 52,000 so the military probably maxes out a powder charge to get to 2750fps

Nosler has data for 77s with RL15 and H4895 pushing just under 2700, Sierra has TAC with 77s with max charge pushing 2750.... no need to push them that fast other than to maintain some take down energy reaching out there.

Accurate Powders seems to be about the only mfr. that lists 5.56 data. The 77 gr. Sierra MK is used in their tables...

Of course, all of this is completely off topic...I'm just looking to buy some IMI 77gr. locally.

Say--has anybody seen it for sale locally?

In case anybody is interested, I found some at Cabelas the other weekend.

Cost is about $20/20 rounds--not a great price, but you'll know how it shoots through your rifle without buying 1K rounds of it.

Let us know if it's worth $1 round?

to answer your question....

IMI razor core 5.56 77gr BTHP

1:7 twist, 16" barrel, 100 yards with 10 mph crosswind, shooting off a table + bag

5 shot group

I've obtained very similar results from a 1:8 twist. the ammo is very consistent. from 1:9 twist the group opens up to just over 1 MOA.

It isn't to me, personally--but I reload.

A Nosler 77grain (blemish/2nds) with cannelure costs about 14 cents.

I found some Sierra 2nds with cannelure for 15 cents, and bought some of them.

I probably ought to buy a box of the IMI just to chrono it.

Solid group. Is your chamber 5.56 or .223 Wylde?
