I have a Mossberg 930 JM Pro that I use for 3-gun. The screws on top of the receiver work loose when I store the gun.

Should I:

A) Loctite down the screws; or
B) Mount a red dot

My concern is how effective a red dot is on a shotgun shooting birdshot.

loctite.

You said birdshot, so you're shooting at limited range. The only time I've seen red dots on shotguns where I've thought it useful is when the shooter was running slugs at 100 yards.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking plus most matches I shoot have flying clays.

i don't think loose receiver plug screws would be a reason to switch over to an RDS. that's a separate question
degrease the threads and use a little bit of loctite. personally i would go with the purple low strength stuff. if you over-do it those little screws can be a bitch to remove due to being so narrow - in other words a larger screw with loctite will be easier to un-jam.
those little screws aren't even necessary BTW. you can just remove them and run it.
