6 men wounded in shooting while filming music video
Police say six men were shot near Boston while filming a music video and two of them have life-threatening injuries

Lynn the city of sin ‘Tis a lovely city

Lynn, Lynn the city of sin
You never come out, the way you came in

You ask for water, but they give you gin
The girls say no, yet they always give in

If your not bad, they won’t let you in
It’s the damndest city I’ve ever lived in

Lynn, Lynn the city of sin
You never come out, the way you came in.

30 years ago when first moving to MA I lived in Lynn for six months with my sister-in-law. I got in a fender bender with an unlicensed uninsured Lynn resident. A policeman looked at my out of state plates and license and asked a bunch of questions. He concluded with “don’t buy a house in Lynn. Move someplace nice”.

That summed up Lynn for me. Even the locals recommended living elsewhere.

Grew up in a great neighborhood in Lynn. Very Americana. Atleast in the 80s and 90s. I'm sure it helped that it was on the outskirts and only had two roads in and out lol

Nothing new. I live close enough that I get to ring doorbell alerts. Three or four nights a week there are shots fired usually always within 1 mile radius.

I went to catholic school in Lynn in the 80s. Most of the city is fine, mostly working middle class. It's just when you get to the Highlands and downtown where things get dicey. The highlands have always been rough, still is pretty nuts up there. For anyone who knows Lynn, Union street is like a mini-Lawrence now.

Union Street is not that bad, at least during the day.
I stopped by and ate outside 3 times this summer.

I dont know how it is at night.

the place went down hill after they evicted the social club that had its clubhouse on Shaw's Court.

I spent 15 months assigned there, after my first night in Lynn I begged to be put back in Roxbury.
No go I had to wait for a transfer to Charlestown.

Wife and I lived in Lynn for ~2 years. Beautiful (on the inside) triple-decker on Boston St.
Our first apartment together. Great memories, never had any issues with anyone.

I was behind the Lynn unit that was escorting the ambulance to MGH. I saw them roll out one of the victims, a guy with long braids into the ER.

I used to take the bus through Central Square in Lynn on my way to and from work. I think I saw about a dozen people get stabbed on top of numerous fist fights during my nightly commute.

When I met my wife she lived in Lynn on Chatham Street by the RR Bridge. She had come from the Boondocks of Jamaica, to live with her cousins in the Bronx. Near Gun Hill Road in one of those God forsaken high rises in the ghetto. When her Aunt offered her a room in Lynn, she jumped at the chance.

If you are ever in Lynn, stop by "Los Chamos". Best Venezuelan food you will eat outside of Venezuela.
Just two questions there Mr. Broccoli...
Who the f*** wants to eat Venezuelan food, other than Venezuelans? [laugh]
Doesn't "Los Chamos" mean something like " Little Boys"? in Spanish? Admittedly it has been decades since I took a Spanish class.

Ever tried Ethiopian food? Neither have they.

Venezuelan food is awesome btw

Lynn resident Virgil Banaver, who said he could smell the gun powder from his porch, allegedly saw one of the victims run by him after being shot.
"He was running in the middle of the street trying to stop cars and he ran right by me screaming, 'Call 911! I've been shot! I've been shot!' So I called 911," Banaver said.

(Underlining mine).

Props to Raymond Chandler.

Maybe just visitors from Worcester taking cell phone calls?

Photos look heart-stopping good...

... my wife ... had come ... to live with her cousins in the Bronx. Near Gun Hill Road ...
Northbound, the sign means you'll soon have completed a clean getaway.
Southbound, it's a reminder to lock and load.

The thing is... I doubt the officer would be living in Lynn himself. Not that I blame him

Go try it. Then log in and edit your post.

Wear lose fitting pants.

Chamo in Venezuela is like saying, friend, guy, dude... depends how you use it.

been intentionally in lynn 2x in my life. i had a great great great uncle that was a lynn fire chief. went back to his wifes house after his funeral in 1957. i had no choice then, i was with my parents. and again in 1997 to a friends house which was very close to lynn classical h.s. and in a surprisingly nice little residential neighborhood. that was enough for me. i'm in a time out from lynn. no habla.

Ever notice that there's no houses for sale in Lynn. Saugus line, lynnfield line, Swampscott line, Peabody line, yes but, no Lynn Real Estate. hmm
