I just placed my first online order for a C&R rifle. I ordered a Yugo model 59 SKS
I will share some pictures and my opinion of the rifle when I recieve it.
Has anyone else ordered one from them?

Thank you for looking

I know that is a problem with ammo sales but I didnt think it was a problem with a rifle as I have a FFL. After your post I understand my mistake.

Scott, actually if the AG could prevent all distributors from shipping guns/ammo/mags to MA DEALERS, she'd be thrilled. In fact many have been scared off to the point that they do indeed refuse to sell to MA Dealers. I even recall THE RAT telling me (before BP, we haven't talked since and will never speak again) that he had difficulty and thus had an FFL in RI accept shipments that he went down to pick up, because they wouldn't even ship to him (MA Dealer).

Fire up your favorite cosmoline removal mechanism, there'll be lots of it on a Yugo [grin]

I'm still wiping up cosmo every time I fire mine. It seeps out of the front sight, bayonet, and grenade launcher sight.

Yup. Almost impossible to get it all out. I used Rays method of a hair dryer and heavy duty air compressor. It makes a mess of whatever is behind the rifle but it works. It looks like an orange bloodbath when you're done.

Interesting. I had built a cosmoline oven (trashcan method) to get most of the cosmo out. One of these days I'll buy an air compressor and give that a shot.

Do it, it works real well. Spray some Wd40 on it when you're heating the wood and steel to provide some cleaning. But yeah use the hair dryer in one hand and the air compressor nozzle in the other and have at it. You'd be surprised how much cosmo comes out.

I bought when I had my C&R license. It was thick with cosmoline. I found a tip on a C&R forum and it worked like a charm. I stripped it down and put it in the dishwasher. All the smaller pieces went into a small mesh container. The water in a dishwasher is HOT! It came out squeeky clean.

I did it while my wife was at work. Like a dumb ass I told her. I thought she'd be pissed, but she had no problem with it. No residue was left in the dishwasher. To be safe you could just run the washer again while empty.

The M59 has a folding bayonet but no grenade launcher attachment right?

Nice first rifle. SKS's are great guns. I had an M59/66 that I sold to fund a Russian refurb. The only thing I didn't like about the 59/66 was how thick the stock was at the wrist. They made it thicker there to reinforce it for grenade launcher use, and I just found it awkward to grip during firing.

[rofl]

I heard of this too but thought it was gross. Brake cleaner works the best but I still haven't had the time .

I now own your SKS and love it, very fun to shoot! I've converted a couple newbies with it since its a fun caliber with little recoil especially in this rifle. Grip doesn't really bother me, although I know what you're talking about.

It came in yesterday her is a cheesy picture.
