Earlier in the year I borrowed some of my dad's guns to see what I liked and how they all felt to me. I made the mistake of borrowing his WWII era Colt 1911A1. I shot it, and I loved it. Since then I have picked up a Colt National Match Gold Cup 1911 (5"), a Colt 1991A1 (5") and earlier today I bought an Smith & Wesson 1911ES (4.25") that I intend to use for carry. I cant wait to get the new ES to the range!
All great guns, but now my bank account is crying.
The 1911 has always felt the best to me and I always bring them to the range.
Do a lot of research and learn all you can about them. They are not cheap guns by any means. I see so many nice 1911's that I would love to have but just can't afford haha. You may not want to check out Wilson Combat unless you can handle falling in love with a gun that is anywhere between $2500 and $5000+. But they do make great magazines and other items that are cheaper haha.
