I had my mind set on a Ruger LCP until I found out they were indeed NOT Ma compliant (yet anyway). Now I'm considering the kel-tec's version. Neither kel-tec model is on the approved roster in Ma and after a search here I have found MA residents who say they are legal and others who are unclear but are leaning toward the idea they are not. So are they? And does anyone know what the price is on a Ma compliant version if they are? I seen the P3AT for sale used in the classified section (in Ma) but it's not the color I'd prefer.

On a side note, a "nice" gentlemen and myself were talking about the LCP yesterday and I told him I had cash in hand ready to purchase one until I found out they were not compliant. His remark was "oh your from MA huh?" (BTW I was in a NH store) when I told him where I lived I then said "yeah right on the border to NH" and then I added "so close to not having ridiculous gun laws, but not close enough haha" his reply was "I don't understand why people are so stupid living down there with all that B.S." and then he add and I quote "F'ing idiots". How rude can one be saying this right to my face? He also mentioned if I were so close then why don't I move. Well if the time comes were I do decide to move I will definately consider NH but I'm not going to move solely on the reason I'd like to be able to purchase a 300 dollar gun haha. I love talking to random people it makes me laugh sometimes.

If it is not on the approved firearms roster then a dealer can not sell it to you. However, you can buy one from a MA resident in a face-to-face transaction.

None of the pistols you mentioned are MA compliant.

From time to time they show up on the secondary market, though... so you can still get them legally if someone wants to sell you one on an FTF.

If you want something jump on it. Who cares what color it is anyways- a P3AT isn't a work of art to begin with... and it's supposed to not be seen most of the time anyways. [laugh]

I agree it's not a show piece but a tool although the used one that is for sale is unfired and has a higher price tag so if it's a compliant gun then I'd prefer to buy new fom a dealer in all black as apposed to the two tone which is available.

Sorry, but you can't buy it from a dealer, no matter what the color.

Really?!? I thought all black was mass compliant no matter what the firearm is.
Huh? Where did you get that idea?

It isn't on the roster, so it isn't compliant. If a particular gun can be documented as having been in state prior to 1998, then the dealer can transfer it, but otherwise it is private transaction only.

I'm really not trying to be a dink or sound childish because I want a certain color on a firearm that really isn't meant to be shown or considered a "nicer firearm" but I have a little analogy,

I bought my last car cause it was semi fast and I really wanted one, so I bought it exactly how I wanted it. It was what I consider a nice car and I was really into it. Well after beating the snot outa it and having a real good time I decided to trade it in for a brand new Honda civic..... Automatic.... Nothing fancy car just to get me around. I am not anywhere as into this civic because it is a tool to me. Point A to point B that's it. BUT I still wasn't going to buy any color one just because it's not a show piece to me. I have to live with it everyday so I want to get it the way I want it. (true story)

So if neither keltec models are compliant, and there are still some in Ma for sale used then maybe I can find an LCP that slipped it's way in Ma used... Who knows.

sorry that was sarcasm, I look back now and relized I should have put a rolling eyes smiley face next to it haha.

There was a used LCP in MA for sale a couple weeks ago here in the classified section, but that sold in, oh about, 30 seconds. So you might get real lucky if you're vigilant. If you're willing to branch out, apparently the Kahr PM9 is approved, and the LCR is a nice wheel gun alternative.

We need a [woosh-over-my-head] smilie, 'cause that one went right by me.

You can hold out for whatever you want. But given how rare these things are and how quickly they get snapped up, I'd buy the first one that comes along. In the unlikely event another one comes along that you like better, then trade up.

Thanks I'll look into the kahr. I liked the LCR but it's was considerably larger than the LCP.

I guess this is true. Hopefully something comes along one day.
