Keltec P11

They jam a lot in the beginning but supposedly work it out after +/- 200 rounds. (so I have read) between the jamming and the trigger pull I sold mine. If I had known it might work itself out at the time i might have kept it a little longer.

Because of the trigger pull, I was not going to win any championships with it but it would make a good 6-7 yard last ditch gun. (assuming the jamming went away)

I read Kel-tec is good to work with if you have an issue, maybe someone can talk to that as well

I have one... agree completely on the trigger pull sucks. And it does hurt a bit to shoot. But it is not a handgun you shoot for recreational purposes. It is a very small 9mm with plenty of capacity. It conceals very well, and takes high cap S&W 59 series mags (albeit they may stick out a bit, but you can get a sleeve for that).

I got a good deal on it used and I only plan on carrying it when I can't get away with CCW'ing my G19 so it sounds like it will serve its purpose. Thanks.

The Kel Tec DAO trigger is just aweful. BUT, if you can learn to master that trigger - I suggest snap caps and Wall Drills 10 minutes a day for several weeks - you will be a much better shot with just about any other trigger.

I own a P11, a P40 and a P32.

Hope that helps,

I have the p11,. I did the Fluff % Buff, got the wider trigger along with the S&W 6904,12 round mag...Mine shoots low 4 " at ten yard sbut i can live with that, shoot at the forhead hit him in the teeth.. Keltec says dont use 9mm over 400 # energy I have around 800 to 900 rounds through it and no problems in the last 5 to 600 rounds I nearly always cary this .the 1911 sits in the safe.

I got a chance to fire it a bit today and the trigger is heavy and a VERY long pull, but I don't think it's an absolutely terrible thing for a backup carry gun of its size. After a magazine or two I was able to put a 5 round group in about a 3" circle so I was satisfied with it. It's will definitely serve its purpose.

did you get the hard chrome, blues or parkerized? if you got anything other than chrome I'd suggest a new finish. I think I read $80-90 to get it chrome'd thru kel-Tek (they actually have you send it to a third party) or have a local ceracote job done. mine got rust on it quick IWB then I used barricade a spray from Dick's and that did the job, but I had to do it daily.

Either way enjoy your new gun.

It's the parkerized finish. I am Cerakoting it in the next week or two, just have to finish a few other projects first.

For ~$55 it's a pretty good gun for the money!

I bought my p-11 at four seasons when they were fairly new to the market...kel-tek that is. FS was pushing them and Clinton's evergrowing threats were looming. The gun jammed some with most ammo. I polished the feed ramp and q-tipped everything to locate burrs. I found half a dozen burrs on the slide and frame rails. Once I buffed those away there was a huge increase in reliability. I bought the gun on price and reputation for a cheap reliable lightweight gun that was solidly built. It fits nice in a leather jacket pocket on the bike. Also because I have a 6906 and a 5904 with loads of high cap mags. I enjoy shooting it although the trigger is far from high quality. It is very accurate to 15 yards and will reliably hit a trash can lid 12 for 12 (mag+1) easily at 25 yards emptying the mag. Every once in a while the rear sight needs to be glued down. I found that with the 15 and 20 round mags leaving one out of the mag makes for cleaner mag changes. The slide won't stay open on an empty mag if you use aftermarket mags designed for the S&Ws. The rubber sleeve that slips over the grip makes the gun more comfortable to hold. I clean it with a wash of Screwloose (a CRC product) and a quick barrel brushing followed with a few patches and a general wipe down. It takes down fairly easy though I rarely do so.

I know this thread is old but I just came across it. I have the P-11 with a 12 rd mag. I have the sleeve and pinky extension. It is a great gun! You do have to practice with the trigger pull. Once you've got it down then you're good to go. I usually pull it back 3/4 of the way, line up my sights then pull the last 1/4. If you line up the sites and try to pull the trigger you will probably shoot low. I also have the P40 conversion barrel that i'm selling on gunbroker until 11/18. This is a video that I did of my p11/p40. I actually got it from an NES member! I said P911 by mistake.
