Kerry: Foreign students 'scared' of guns in U.S.

let me stop you right there! $60 K per year??? ANd why is that figure so high? Do you think our schools could charge $60 K per year if they had plenty of unfilled openings at the start of the school year? Wouldn't they have to lower their tuition price, by common sense cost cutting, to attract more American students to attend????

That is what is wrong with higher education here in the USA, open floodgates of (many times) ungrateful foreign students, AND unlimited student loans controlled by uncle Sam. Poor students come out of college with $400K debt, and then can not find a job except for Starbux!

Send those foreigners back home to whatever shit hole university they have back there. When I go into a hospital, I would like a US national who I can call "doctor" working on me.
You are pointing at a soft spot of global economy, not just American higher education. For good or evil, competition is open worldwide. The US has never been a closed system and stagnation, and change is constant. The capitalists have taken advantage of it.

As far as medicine, you'll be seeing more Asian doctors if you go to a classroom of a medical school. They seem to outwork other kids academically and otherwise. If by US nationals you mean those born or grown up here, then you are probably fine, although some doctors are schooled overseas but must be trained here and pass the US vigorous tests.

No, foreign students are preferred at a number of institutions. They love having that world wide kumbayah community, instead of filling their classes with equally deserving American youth. I do not buy your bullshit argument.

Foreign students 'scared' of guns in U.S.

I am scared of foreign students in the US. Like the ones that fly planes into buildings. That doesn't mean that I have a problem with foreign students studying in the US.

I don't like the laws a lot of other nations have, so I stay away. If these students don't like the freedoms we enjoy in the US, then I suggest they stay in their home countries.

And just like all those countries with the restrictive gun laws including Japan, Engand... and any others he would like to mention the criminal elements in each of these have no problems getting their guns.

Scared of all the guns huh?

Well, it's up to you to change it if you don't like it. The education industry is so far from my job that I don't pretend to know what they want their students makeup look like. I guess some kids are more equally deserving. Again, the admissions people are pros at their job. I try to let others do their job.

Like it or not, the world is changing, fast. It's your choice how to cope with that. I'm just one among 7 billion (7,000,000,000) others give or take.

Fine, let them goto school in their own country then.

Exactly. And I'll add this for thought:

Gen. Isoroku Yamamoto was part of the Japanese Navy establishment, who were rivals of the more aggressive Army establishment, especially the officers of the Kwantung army. As such he promoted a policy of a strong fleet to project force through gunboat diplomacy, rather than a fleet used primarily for transport of invasion land forces, as some of his political opponents in the army wanted.[3] This stance led him to oppose the invasion of China. He also opposed war against the United States partly because of his studies at Harvard University (1919–1921) and his two postings as a naval attaché in Washington, D.C. He learned to speak fluent English as a result.

All tho opposed it makes you wonder......

Foreigners are scared of guns in America? Really?

My own personal experience is limited, but I've always found them to be fascinated by guns. They really get a kick out of going to a range and even find reloading to be entertaining. Some have been openly envious of the firearm freedoms in MA, which says a lot about what things are like in their native countries.

I think John Kerry needs to expand his circle of foreign acquaintances. In fact, I would suggest he give up his American citizenship and move to a foreign country. He'd probably be much happier and a lot less frightened.

If he did that it would make me a lot happier.

True dat on all counts! All my 'foreigner' friends WANT to go shoot my guns at the range. Some might hesitate to own a gun for various reasons (wife's opposing most likely), but they all love to shoot including females. I should start a club for them, as I can take only 2 guests per visit!

The fact that they decided to study in America even though they are scared of our national gun heritage/culture/freedoms just shows you that we have lots to offer. If they cant get used to our culture and freedoms then they can go home.

I disagree with you at some level and here is my reasoning...

I went to college here and there have been numerous Foreign Students who blatantly said to my face "US culture is so messed up, I wouldnt want my kids to grow up here... bla bla bla" - So to those people, I say and say loudly "GO BACK TO YOUR HOLE WHERE YOU CAME FROM." Also, I dont think I would be slightly wrong in assuming that such individuals dont give a crap about this nations Constitution and Citizen Rights ! (Oh.... ofcourse except the rights which grant socialism for all type of benefits)...

I agree with you that talking back to the aforementioned individuals is the right thing to do, even though I have yet to meet anybody fitting that description.

Just make sure that you do not stereotype all foreign students based on the individuals you describe - it is as wrong as stereotyping all gun owners based on your opinion of a gun owner like John Rosenthal of Stop Handgun Violence.

I like the idea, besides I don't see the US stops issuing student visas any time soon. Maybe the visa officer could question them on their cultural value and attitude towards 2A? Not gonna happen either.

Again, join the change or stay behind. Some of these students will choose to stay here and be different than you and me. You can't stop that. All ancestors of the NES folks settled down here in similar fashions. When this country is indeed closed to new comers, I'll contemplate a relocation as well.

Really Johnny?!!! When I was in dent school most of the international students clearly stated they and their WIVES felt "significantly safer in America" due to the Second Amendment and the right to bear arms. GOD BLESS THE US!!!!!!!

All your 'foreigners stay home' rants sound funny! And all those "If you don't like it here, go back where you came from"...

So I'm making a general statement.

First of all, it was John Kerry's line that started this thread. You don't have to use his words to attack foreign students. They pay $60K tuition/fees a year to study here. Get on the schools' websites you'll see that international students make up a significant portion of their student body and they normally don't enjoy any financial aid. In other words, American colleges count on those foreigners financially.

Secondly, had your ancestors not been so brave to emigrate from their shitty homes, you wouldn't have been born here.

Finally, I adopted this country as my home. My offspring is just like you speaking beautiful English and getting a great education etc. Please don't tell me to go elsewhere if you don't agree with me, because this is my home.

Now carry on.

Well said.

Are you a capitalist or a protectionist?

Personally, I'd like the best doctor working on me. Did you hear the accent the chief of trauma surgery at MGH had?

From what I see around most of the world our guns are pretty tame. Could go to school in the Mid East...and worry every day about revolution, terrorism and sharia law...spring breaks must suck there. Could go to school in China...but unless your majoring in Communist doctrine, exploiting slave labor or currency manipulation not many top schools. How about school in Africa...can go to sleep every night wondering if you'll get beheaded because the local witch doctor thinks you have offended the spirits of his ancestors...maybe go to Mexico and take Chemistry. The rest of the world is pretty f**cked up. Watch Kaotic dot com sometime and see how"Civilized" the rest of the world is.

yeah i found it too, i think linked off Drudge. Was a hassle to reply there but i will here.

How about Americans afraid of foreign students period!

The stupid liberals are the ones to blame for this.

They're so intent on taking away guns and they've been lying about reality for so long it's starting to bite them in the ass.

The reality is that the stats and facts actually show that violent crime has gone down by something like 50% over like the last 10-15 years.

But this doesn't fit the story that they have to tell to have a good case to ban "assault weapons" - so they need to lie. And now they've lied so pervasively the story is causing people to be afraid to come here (if what Kerry is saying is even true in the first place). So the stupid progressives in their zeal to make us all safe - are actually sabotaging their sacred "multicultural society" because of their own lies and stupidity.

It's farking awesome.

Recently, there was a thread on a boating site where an English sailor said he wouldn't risk coming to the US since he was afraid that if a landowner took offense to someone walking along his beachfront, he would appear with a shotgun and start blasting away. Even grownups worry about it.

Some years ago, there was a series of gruesome murders of tourists in the Miami area (as best I remember) and it caused a dip in tourism.

You can blame Biden for that one.
