Now that the long slide version of the SR22 is on the list, and we shoud not have to jump through hoops, who is interested in one?(I should note that I am also interested in a Mark IV Hunter but that approval is using a non-standard model number might be a while before it appears)

Did you get one? How is it?
I am also very interested in one of these. My concern though is that it will be more 'picky' than the 3.5" sr22 because that little .22 round has to now operate a longer slide. Not sure if that is valid or not but I can't seem to find any first hand reviews out there.

Have not gotten one, holding out to see if the Mark IV starts to show up, thinking about either as a Christmas gift for the wife who loves the standard SR22.

The difference is merely an inch of aluminum slide, now what effect the equal increased barrel length would have on the action would be a function of pressure over time, something I am sure Ruger have considered. Given their excellent warranty service, and the cost to them of returns, I am sure they tested the design pretty thoroughly before release.

the slide is aluminum and plenty light. ruger did a good job putting steel reinforcements at the breech and slide stop notch to prevent wearing of the aluminum at key spots. in terms of cycling the longer length shouldn't matter. also one could look at it from the other angle and say "the round as more dwell time so provides more back pressure to cycle the pistol". in effect it's slightly more like a rifle than the 3.5' model. ultimately the difference is probably negligible.

Mine has been reliable with ammo that won't run my .22 conversions. It doesn't consistently lock back with SV ammo but the shooter might be limp-wristing it.

I am guessing I am not the only one here who just got an email from MFS advertising the Long Slide SR22 for $391 cash.

I paid $285 factory new for my standard SR22.

Incidentally they are also advertising a sale that acknowledges that the Sig SP2022 in 9mm has been discontinued, if I had the dough I would buy one before they are gone simply because I think they are a good value.

Just saw that email too. For $400 I would rather just hang in there for the Mark4 since I can't imagine the base model will be far from that when it comes out. I'll probably just look for a deal on a used SR22 to hold me over for a while :)

the SP2022 is a nice pistol but if really looking for a top notch value I would have to give that nod to the Canik TP9SF.

I have a SP2022 and I must say, its my first DA/SA and its very, VERY nice for the price. I got it out the door for ~480ish. Came with Sig night sites, 2 10rd mags, holster and two grips. I think i got the last one from Four Seasons too! Any reason why Sig is not making them anymore?

I also took a peek at the Canik TP9SF on Thursday and it seems like a nice pistol for the price, although I would like to see the price a bit closer to 350ish. If I remember correctly, Four Seasons wanted 399.99 +tax. They didn't have much inventory as they don't know how its going to sell.

The SP2022 was a contract gun for the french gov and police. they specified the firearm and sig delivered it. this is why the SP2022 is relatively cheap by sig standards and i'm surmising their contracts with the SP2022 have either expired or dwindled.

Does that mean that parts/mags will no longer be available for it? Will Sig still warranty these?

They have sold many of them around the world so I wouldnt avoid an SP2022 just because of concern over support. However the best tip off that Sig is phasing out a firearm is a cease armorer certification for it. Right now the P250 and SP2022 are both on their way out. However I would expect given volume of sales and simplicity of designs they will continue to support their owners if issues arise.

the P320 has simply exploded in demand. Sig cant even keep up production for them. The P320 armorer courses are always full. Its going to be the next generation of sig pistol. I anticipate a single stack version of it as well.

that being said Sig is not like Ruger where they always cover shipping and fix within a week. Sig is cool for the first year of purchase then they become naturally douchie.
