I am looking for a local club and have two in my area mvgc or mra. I have visited mystic valley though a nice guy I meet through this website about a year ago but could never get a call or set something up with the person in charge of membership. From what I read mass rifle seems like a lot of infighting and is a little more of a ride for me.

Any opinions on any other clubs or advice on mvgc or ma would be appreciated. I am just getting tired of driving to Bob's.

Im a member at the MRA its been fine to me considering its close to my home. I do want to join harvard though

I'm a member of MVGC, going on 20 years.
Come on by the club this Friday night for an action match
Every 2nd Friday night of the month from October through May we all get together for a low-key and fun action pistol match. Rules are loosely based on IPDA, but the real goal is to have fun and get some practice. Scores are for bragging rights only and are not submitted. Match results are usually posted on practiscore.com.
Our Action Pistol matches are open to the public. The match fee is a low $10.00 to cover some of our costs. Bring your safety gear, and safe centerfire pistol, a USPSA legal holster, and about 100 rounds. We run a COLD RANGE during all competitions. No loaded firearms anywhere on the property except on command from the RSO.
If that doesn't work try to PM JasonS, a moderator and member of the MVGC Board

Thank you for the offer. I will have to check out the standards for legal holster and exactly what that entails. I believe Jason was who showed me the club before. If I remember right he said at the time there was a switch of who was in charge of new applications.

New membership is at 7:00pm (sharp!) on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Just come down, no need to call ahead. For more info check out our web page here: http://mysticvalleygunclub.com/join/

The gentleman who used to run new member unfortunately passed away last January, but someone else has since taken over and does a great job.

As for holsters at the fun matches, any outside the waistband holster that covers the trigger is fine. No shoulder rigs or anything like that.

Thank you and see you soon.

Jason, I've been a member of MVGC for a little over a year and enjoy it very much except for one thing. Is there any chance MVGC will allow rifles in .223 or 5.56 to be shot on the range? The club is very convenient for me, but I would hate to lay out additional $$$ to join another club just so I could shout a rifle.

The range wasn't designed to support centerfire rifles and I suspect it would be pretty expensive to upgrade. With only 50 foot ranges and very few members interested in centerfire rifles, I doubt that a majority of the members would see enough value to vote to spend the money. (We do have many members, including myself, who regularly shoot rifles chambered in .22LR though.)

With that said, there's a membership meeting coming up in December. That would be the place to bring it up for discussion.
