I am looking to join a club preferably on the North Shore or somewhere relatively close to Gloucester and was wondering if any of you had any ideas. I would like to join the Cape Ann Sportsman's club however, due to my job I am unable to make the meetings. I work on a tugboat for 2 weeks then have 2 weeks off and my schedule conflicts with most club's meeting times.

Check this sub-forum for club info. www.goal.org also has a list of GOAL-affiliated clubs with contact info, worth checking out.

Find one you like that suits your needs/desires.

Then make contact with an officer of said club, describe your work situation, ask for a tour and see if they will accommodate you. Most (if not all) clubs should be flexible enough to bend their "must attend a meeting" rules for those who work such that they can't make the meetings. If they aren't reasonable, you probably don't want to be a member there anyway . . . and search on for another choice.

Good luck.

P.S. I was a club BOD member for 14 years and we bent the rules where needed. At another club I had to "force" the issue for two friends who had similar situations . . . there were a few stubborn old-timers who resisted, but eventually both were accepted.
