Not really interested in one from the CMP as I would like to put my hands on it before buying. (Yeah, I know, sound dumb). Not into collecting anymore, as I’ve sold off all my collectibles with the only 2 I really regret letting go was my 1944 SA Garand and my 39 Luger.

Seen anything local? (Ma / NH)

Why not post a WTB ad here?

Like jpm says, there are a number of them available here.

I think you can PM someone in the classifieds without being green. This post amounts to essentially a WTB, which would require membership. Regardless, @76Too has a very good deal on a M1 right now. It's been sorted out by a nationally known M1 / M1A armorer and Perry record holder. It will be a good shooter. 76Too is moving, so not a lot of time to just think about it.

Four Seasons in Woburn usually has some on consignment, but they always around $1100. That’s a silly price when you can get one from the CMP for around $750. The gun show up in Wilmington had them for $1350 yesterday

I was actually specifically looking to see if a local shop had any, as I generally dont deal with FTF crap anymore

If you change your mind, let me know. Have an excellent rifle much cheaper than you would find at a shop.

I promise I’m not a dirtbag either.

I know this guy personally and am familiar with the rifle, otherwise I would not have recommended. Whatever, if avoiding FTF is worth a $300+ premium at a shop and avoiding the CMP hoops is worth a $600+ premium, your choice. There are usually some M1's at Cabelas in Berlin, FYI.

Shooters in Hooksett usually has a bunch too but they're overpriced IMO. Best deal is going to be in the classifieds.

For the $400+ more your paying over a CMP service grade maybe a trip to the CMP south store?

Usually it's the fickle buyers that constitutes the FTF crap. No issues with sellers normally unless it's crosslisted with multiple "buyers" claiming.

Do the deal at a local shop for $25 or so. I dont think your going to find much under $1000 that you can touchey feely.

Out side of cmp under $1000 is most likey going to be a drill rifle.

More of a collectible 'correct' Garand, but @dw617 has one in the classifieds as well. Another trustworthy seller from the forum.

That and CMP will make anything right that isn't. As previously documented on the forum my CMP Field Grade Special had messed up sights due to a bad blasting job when it was reparked. CMP sent out new sights ASAP and made it right. Kind of negates the "want to put my hands on it first" need, for me anyway.

Way cheaper than you'll get at any shop. Unless one was looking for something very specific (IHC receiver, etc.) or really hates waiting, I don't know of any reason why CMP wouldn't be the first, second, and third choice.

I have three sitting in my safe .One prior to WW2 (39) and the others made during the war .You can touch them feel them and even shoot them .Just cover the cost of the ammo.
If i do not sell them here .I will be dropping them off at Sportsman den in Quincy .

I ended up with a Garand from another NES member, but I may be interested in a second one. PM me with what you have if you are still selling.

thanks to all here for talking some sense into me and buying a nice 43 SA from a great NES member.

Is there a good history book an the M1 Garand? I’d like to get one for my son for Christmas

A few pics from disassembly and cleaning
