Having been shooting pins with my 1911, but would like get into using revolver also.

Looks as though most favored are a 45ACP (like SW 625) or 44Magnum. Any thoughts on a 45 Colt? I have seen a Ruger Super Redhawk (454Casull/45colt) at a reasonable price. Have not seen any SW625's on any for sale lists, and I'm refusing to pay MSRP for one...

I am starting to reload myself, so ammo availability not as big a deal.

Thanks
-Tim

For .45 Colt pin busters, try 255gr LSWC on top of 8.5gr Unique, 850 fps, 217 power factor. Factory 230gr FMJ .45 ACP comes in at about 192 power factor.

Might be a little hard to find, but this will certainly do the job.

One shot should handle the average table of pins, but if not, you've got five more where that came from. (^_^)

I have a ruger super redhawk and I would recommend that only since I own one. You have the versatility of either the 45 colt or 454 rounds either of which will surely do a number on bowling pins. I picked mine up in a trade but the price it was listed at was around $525 or so used so you can definitely find them at reasonable prices.

check out the Ruger Blackhawks in 45 colt or 44 mag. You can load them up as heavy or light as you like. They are built like tanks but well made.

They're not that expensive either, especially used.

One of the sharpshooters on a History channel show used one for his shooting displays, so they're accurate too.

A .44 Magnum with a 240 or 250 grain SWC with enough powder to get you 850 - 900 fps is full of win.

If you're reloading get a .44 mag and don't look back. Get some flat faced 200 gr+ bullets and you're good to go. You don't even have to crank them
up all the way, fluff loads will take the pins off the table easily. Try a SW629 power port.

The SW625 in .45 is good too, mainly because of moon clips making reloads lightning fast if you practice enough. You can, however, moon clip a .44
mag with no problem if you send the cylinder out to have it modified.
