Hi everyone, quick question:
I am considering joining a club in Ma, preferably in the surrounding boston area, but I would be interested primarily in shooting skeet and and some trap. Any input on the best club for those two?

Both Massapoag Sportsmen's Club and Sharon F&G have skeet and trap.

Massapoag, last I knew (years ago) was strictly for the very experienced shooter as they ran matches frequently. It was not a place to learn to shoot skeet/trap.

Sharon F&G was much more laid back and welcoming for new shooters of skeet/trap.

Most other clubs south of Boston seem to only have trap and no skeet ranges.

I believe that Fin and Fur in Millis, MA have skeet and trap facilities. It seems to be a focal point of their club.

Southborough R&G in Hopkinton has 2 Trap field and 2 Skeet Fields and a Sporting Clay course. The Sporting Clays course dosn't get used that often but Trap and Skeet run year round on Sundays at 1pm and in warmer weather Thursdays at 6pm. They are a freindly group and a wide range of shooter participate

Riverside in Hudson has both with a nice friendly group of guys. Open to public on good sunday mornings year round and thursday nights I believe. Right off 495 @ 290

Walpole Sportsman has great trap facilities and a skeet field, 5 stand and sporting clays all just done over. They cater heavily to the shotgun sports.

North Leominster (sp) GC is hot for shotty games.

+1

That's the only reason I left that gun club, I was tired of being asked when I was going to shoot trap and skeet by other members there.

Below is a overview of the clubs ranges.

Greater Boston is a big statement. You have to figure how far to drive as some already listed are a hike.

Anyway, here are some as well in the range of distance others have listed.

These say they have skeet and trap, you have to verify with the clubs that they do both often and not one occasionally. You also have to check which ones shut down in cold weather, some clubs don't shoot in the winter. These are some south and west.

Angle Tree in N Attleboro
FFF in Millis
Hopkinton Sportsmen's Association
Independent Sportsmen's in Foxboro
Massapoag Sportsmen's in Sharon, make sure trap is going
Old Colony Sportsmen's in Pembroke
Standish Sportsmen's in E Bridgewater
Walpole Sportsman's in Walpole

wow thanks for all the info guys! Yeh im a non-res living in back bay right now but I'm going to move 5-10 miles out soon and bring a couple shotguns with from my dwelling in upstate NY. Id be willing to travel 30-40 minutes if it meant going to a nice relaxed club, preferably with a young crowd. the minute man club sounds amazing, seems like there are a lot of options though...

Minuteman has a lot of fields. And there are other clubs on the north shore.

Figure out where you will live and how far you would then drive from there and if you have leeway move nearer a club you want.
