I also found Mass Firearms School and Worcester Pistol after some digging around.. Looks decent for an indoor range. Anyone belong to either?
Hello Dean508. I belong to both. Started at MFS while I was on the waiting list for Worcester Pistol Rifle Club. I live in Leicester. MFS is a bit of a drive, but I really wanted an indoor climate controlled pistol range so I could take "Mrs_a73elkyss". MFS is nice, but a far drive.
WPRC has a cap and I was fortunate this past September to get in. I had been there for their open to anyone "pin shoots" and liked the club. The indoor pistol range is nice, climate controlled, and you can go 24 hours a day. Above the range, they hold meetings and training. It is a straightforward, no BS shooting club. No bar, no pool tables, not even a vending machine. From Leicester, I can be on the range in less than 30 minutes. MFS is close to an hour drive.
I would suggest to go to their website at
http://wprclub.com/ and if you like what you see, submit an application. They take new members on a first come basis according to when the application was turned in. It doesn't cost anything unless you are voted in. They are in their 2014 renewal window, so if existing members don't renew, and they go below the cap, they will go to the wait list.
I'm in Oxford, MA looking for recommendations on chill ranges with no drama or nonsense, reasonable rates and driving distance.
Specifically, I am not looking for a drinking club, pool hall, or any of that...
I want to shoot as often as I am able (and my family), fishing, and archery would be a bonus.
Indoor pistol range would be optimum in addition to outdoors range/s.
Would anyone be willing to sponsor me and/or show me around (if needed to join)?
At WPRC, you don't need a sponsor, but do need references and be a member of GOAL. They are only a shooting club, no fishing or archery.
