Well the S&W rebate is ending this month so I'm trying to find MA shops with 642's without the internal lock.

I tried FSGUNS and the person I spoke to says they have the locks.

Budsguns (though not local) product page says "No Manual Safety" not sure if that means no internal lock? But there on Christmas vacation until the 29th so I can not ask them.

Both these places have the 642 for $399 so I would like to find one for this price.

I'm hoping someone here has recently purchased one and can give me a heads up.

I picked a 642 no lock brand new at four seasons last month for $389, still waiting for the rebate tho :(

Really? I'm wondering if the guy was just in a rush. He didn't really give me a straight answer.. He said "um Yah, I believe they do."

Has anyone else bought one from there recently? If so I may take a trip there tomorrow. It's a little out of the way so any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks fbirdquik6

From what I read in another thread, FS was having some problems today. LOTS of customers AND some power problems. I would suggest you go there and lay your own eyes upon the selection. The guy may have been rushed by dealing with the problems they had.

First Defense Firearms in Uxbridge was able to deliver a new, no lock S&W 442 in a couple of days. This was within the past two weeks. Give Dennis a call.

Cheers,

Rich

Thanks.. Yep , looks like they had a few issues today. I may try and give them a call again tomorrow before heading down.

I never seem to get the " great customer service " everyone talks about when inquiring about a purchase over the phone.[thinking]

Thanks richc

I just picked up my 642 no-lock at FS a few weeks ago. In all fairness I gotta tell you that they had held it for me from the second week in Oct. I'd try them again. Maybe a little miscommunication. Also, even if they needed to order it, wouldn't the sale date be when you paid for it, up front, not when you received it.

Yes, the sale date would be when you ordered it. But they also said they would not special order one with out the lock Which kinda through me off.

BTW, where is this lock located? Can anyone point me to some pictures so I can be sure I know exactly what I am looking for?

It is so... bought a brand new 442 without lock about two weeks ago. Funny thing was they shipped it with the keys in the box.

I picked up my new production no lock 642 at First Defense, ordered it, took a day or two to get.

Wait a minute... is S&W now producing lockess revolvers?? Please say it is so...

Yes, as of right now, only the Model 442 & 642.

That doesn't sound like the Four Seasons I know and love. I'd still go down there and get it straightened out.

Just got back ..I almost ended up with nothing and then the guy that waited on me took another look and he found one 642 no lock! (though they did have a used no lock on display)

Anyway, they were very nice in person.

Got a cleaning kit, ammo for my 1911, ammo for the snub, polish cloth, speed loader, holster etc..

My girl friend is gonna have my ass :0D

Good for you! Even a store as good as Four Seasons can have bad days so it's always better if you can to go in person.
