I have been a guest to several clubs including Holland Rod and gun, Singletary, and Auburn Sportsmans. I am looking for something affordable and basic. I have heard good things about Brookfield Rod and Gun but have not been able to reach anyone through the phone number. I took a ride by it and it seemed to be closed at the time. Any recommendations or information about Brookfield?

Thanks

Brookfield Rod and Gun is basically a bar with a range attached. I belonged to it for one season but did not renew. The way I signed up was to drive up there during the business hours, business hours of the bar that is, and got an application form the person serving booze. I went to a couple of meetings but they were rather awkward and they mostly discussed non-gun related ways of raising money. That was a couple of years ago so things might have changed but I doubt it. I see that they still don't have a website which was supposed to be up in a couple of months...two years ago.

Have you checked out Hamilton Rod and Gun in Sturbridge? Then there is also Nenameseck up in Palmer.

I was interested in hamilton but it looks like about $170 to join? Also there appears to be some community service and im not sure if they will accept members anytime of the year

Then there is also Quaboag Sportsmens Club in Warren. Quaboag looks to be very inexpensive at $35 for a single and $40 for a family membership. Nenameseck I believe is around $80 single and $100 family but they have two indoor ranges for archery and handguns.

Quaboag and Nenameseck are fairly close to each other.

Not cheap, but it is a great club. A bunch of action pits and a nice indoor range.

I think it's cheap considering the availability of a 24 indoor range and the lack of crowds. Range rules are also extremely reasonable. If the price is too much, two Sundays worth of work gets the price down to $100. You need to take the orientation class before you join. I think it's the 27th of this month. I'd recommend going even if you're not positive you'll join as the next one won't be until the spring.

The Brookfield Rod & Gun club is very inexpensive at $25 per year but they are more of a social club than a Rod & Gun club. The only organized shooting I know of that they have is a turkey shoot. There is or was a trap house but there are no trap shoots. If you go there is a good chance the range won't be very busy most of the time.
I have heard good things about 8 point in I believe sterling, Ma.
Most clubs that have alot of shooting and other activities will be more expensive.

i dont know where you are located but i live in the town of hardwick. i travel to granby ma as thats where the club i belong to is located. its fairview sportsmans club. the web site is in my signature line. feel free to check it out. membership is 40 a year for an individual and 50 for a family membership.

I tried looking into Brookfield but gave up on it, I joined Hamilton. Its not cheap or basic but I love it. The whole club isn't based around the bar, its prominent, but independant access to all the ranges at acceptable hours for the noise is heaven, plus seeing 100-150yds downrange in no light is pretty hard. You get what you pay for with Hamilton but if you'll never use the clubhouse or different offerings like trap, fishing, camping, etc. you might want to look elsewhere.

If your looking for an active club and want to be a real member try Leicester Rod & Gun Only $50 to join and $40 a year after that ,you also have to put in 50 hours a year at the club . that's sounds like a lot of hrs but it easy if your active .
