John Lott is the founder of this organization and is seeking to counter the bogus studies by providing rapid response to the new studies as well as conducting high-quality peer-reviewed academic studies.

Meeting the goal of $300,000 will allow the center to hire additional research associates, acquire data, and do research on a variety of topics that are central to the debate over gun ownership. If we could meet $500,000, it would cover our costs for a year.

CPRC’s primary goals are to:
Advance the scientific understanding of the relationship between laws regulating the ownership or use of guns, crime, and public safety.
Improve the awareness and knowledge of this scientific understanding among the public, journalists, and policy makers.
Enhance public safety through these scientific advances and improved awareness and knowledge.
Gun control advocates have recently put hundreds of millions of dollars toward “public health” studies, with predetermined outcomes. These studies are beginning to find their way to the main stream media. Soon there will be an avalanche of studies, and their advice puts lives at risk.

Gun owners won't cough up enough to fund this project beyond $20K. And you want to know what, paying Lott money is going to be far more effective than anyone paying you. Nothing personal, but he has a proven track record of producing bullet proof content. He is dead on right, they pay for lies. The sad this is, we won't even pay for truths.

The $50 million Bloomberg gave to gun control recently didn't bother him one iota.

In January of 2014, ABC devoted hours of broadcast time to discuss a new “study” published in the Pediatric Journal. ABC created footage and scripts specifically aimed at scaring people into not owning guns.

Why help Dr. Lott? Because he's the best person for the job. In Forbes magazine, none other than Nobel prize winning economist Milton Friedman is quoted as saying, “John Lott has few equals as a perceptive analyst of controversial public policy issues.”
Which is a lofty way of saying that no one knows more about the statistical truth about guns than Dr. Lott. He's looked more deeply and more honestly at the numbers than anyone in history and has discovered conclusively that the common assumption that more guns create more crime is absolutely and provably false, not just in the United States, but in other countries around the world.

"Bloomberg and others are spending a great deal of money putting out research that is poorly done and riddled with errors," Lott told Breitbart News. "But they always get massive news coverage. I've done work that's gotten national attention before – but journalists covering it virtually always ask a critic of mine for comments. When Bloomberg releases a study, on the other hand, his critics are almost never asked for comments."

"Nobody else is really doing this kind of research right now," Lott said. "You have places like the NRA and Gun Owners of America, and they can certainly be a useful thing – but none of them really deal with hard data. There's an asymmetry because Bloomberg can fund studies and it doesn't bother the media. But if the NRA were to fund someone who did research it would be completely dismissed."


Lott will launch CPRC using funds donated by individuals who support his mission. Donations may be made here.
"I want to get a group of academics together who can produce high-quality research on these topics," he said. "We also plan on doing original research, not just responding to what others have done. Many reporters don't understand the facts – if anti-gun groups provide information, the media are usually sympathetic to that narrative."
