Do the M&P 15-22's cycle "standard velocity" ammo somewhat reliably (Standard velocity being maybe 1050-1100, depending on maker)? I have a 15-22, but the only ammo I'd really stocked up on before all of this madness started was standard velocity and target type loads. My 10/22 cycles it all fine, as did my MK III, but I haven't had a chance to try it in my new purchase yet and probably won't for a few days. I'll find out when I go to try it, but I'd at least like to throw this thread up to get an idea of what to expect. Thanks for any info!

I guess I should also ask while I have this thread running, is the pin in the side of the buttstock the only thing holding in in place? I have a spare MOE stock I'd like to replace it with but I don't want to mess with it if its glued in place or anything. In the same vein, is the "buffer tube" of a standard dimension, ie commercial or mil spec, and will it accept regular AR carbine stocks? What about the pistol grip, is that cross compatible with standard AR parts?

sorry but no mil buffer tube in buttstock. thats why i didnt get a slide fire for my...hope this helps

My 15-22 has cycled every kind of ammo I've thrown it at.

Olin, Hansen Cartridge, Federal, CCI, Mini Mags, old CCI Blazer.

I've had very few failure to fires in probably close to 2500/3000 rounds (maybe five or six), not sure which brand it was as I put it back in the rifle and it worked. :)

When I got home I depinned the stock (First moving the separated upper to another plane of existence, of course) and tried out the MOE mil spec stock I had, and it did in fact fit and function just fine. Just for anyone's reference.

Good to know. I might stick an MOE on mine as well. I unpinned and changed the position on my stock but used the same pin to re-pin it. I'm pretty sure the pin they use is just a standard trigger guard pin from a regular AR.

Yeah, honestly it's a nice, tight fit. Really feels a lot less "cheap" than the stock it came with. Worth the upgrade cost for sure.

Thought I would give a little update on the rifle. It has functioned just great with all the standard velocity I fed it. I even had it cycle far enough to feed CCI Quiet (Only once!), which is incredible because I never would even suspect it would feed that in semi-auto, I had planned to just use it as straight pull bolt action. Great, great gun. It's become a catchall for spare parts too and feels a lot more substantial with some "real" furniture on it. I originally just intended to put a light and sight on it for dealing with invading raccoons, but it's gathered much more than that...
