I am looking to buy an m&p .45. i am curious as to how much bigger the grips would be compared to an m&p9 even with the smallest insert on? I have smaller hands and i know its a double stack .45 so i have an idea.

I don't notice it as a lot bigger. My hands aren't real big but I use the medium insert on both my M&P 9c and my .45

ok cool thanks. i couldnt find a shop around me that had the .45 for me to try the grips so i figured id just ask. i didnt think i would have a problem with its grip. Thanks.

Where do you shoot? I'm in Oxford and shoot at Worcester Pistol and Rifle. I'll be there Tuesday evening if you want to try the 45.

I have small hands as well and Glocks & Paras don't fit my hand. My M&P 45 with Small grip, on the other hand fits me well.

The M&P45 grip is slightly larger, front to back, than the 9mm version. It's somewhat smaller than, say, a Sig P229 grip.

If I had to guess, the 45's small grip is somewhat in between the 9mm's medium and large, but the proportions are not exactly the same.

Sorry bout that, don't know why I just didn't take them and show them.

First I want to show the inserts themselves. The ones on the left are the ones that come with the M&P9 and the ones on the right are the ones with the M&P45.

As you can see they are practically Identical. These are both the small grips.

The next two pictures are how my hand lines up on them.

This is the M&P45

Personally I use the large grips on both. I can attest that the large grip on the M&P45 feels a lot fatter than the M&P9. I actually like that a lot more because feels better in my hand. However when I put the small grips both, it felt about the same, you can judge how the difference is from the pictures... Hopefully.
