So I installed an Apex Duty Action Trigger and RAM in my M&P 40 C. The pistol came w/a mag safety. Here is the scenario: Insert full mag., sling-shot slide (Gun is now hot w/1 round in the chamber) REMOVE mag., Pull trigger. THE GUN GOES BANG !! I noticed that the Mag safety lever stays in the up position when I remove the mag. Does the Apex kit over-ride the safety or did I screw up the install ? The gun otherwise functions and shoots fine. I've never cared for the mag safety feature but it's got me slightly concerned that something is not right. (ps I never "Tested" the mag safety feature prior to the Apex kit)

The trigger kit does not. The RAM kit does. It says as much on their website. They do sell a variant that does not disable the mag safety but it doesn't sound like that's the one you bought [wink]

IME on my 9c, the mag safety is now inconsistent. I have been able to drop the hammer with the mag out but not every time.

TWtommers already posted the answer before this got on the thread.

delete please.

Thanks TW. When I ordered the kit they asked me if it had a mag safety. Looks like they sent me the wrong one.... thanks for the info

TW did you install a RAM or is the factory mag safety inconsistent ?

I put in the trigger kit & RAM I bought from Remsport, and it didnt look like it would affect the mag safety. Whats the difference between the two? (RAM is no where near the Mag safety area?) Though in the long run I'm just curious, I yanked that scrap of steel out of the gun when I had it in pieces anyway. Dropped a mag drawing and dry firing the week before. Made my mind up real fast on that one [laugh]

I put in the original RAM which interfers the normal function of the mag safety. However, my experience has been that this now makes the mag safe inconsistent rather than deactivating it all together. I'll be taking steps to permanently remove the mag safety, it's just not high on my priority list lately.

Yes, I cut a spring out of a pen.

Ditto. It was kind of a PITA to get the spring in though. I was given one by the guy I bought the kit from, but after the 3rd try to get the little SOB on the pin, it ended up someplace in the basement, never to be seen again. Pen springs work fine, all it does it push the sear deactivation lever to the side. Other than that there's no load on the spring itself. You could just yank out the take down lever, and disassemble by pulling the trigger. (which I do about 99% of the time now anyway)
