Hey guys,

I tried searching for this in the forums, but didn't see anything specific to my question so I do apologize if this is a dupe.

I just picked up an M&P compact and What I'm looking for is feedback from other M&P owners (past and present) on magazine disconnect removal- I know that I need to replace the lever with a filler spring so I wanted to see what you all had had success with. I definitely don't want to take a trial and error route.

i appreciate the feedback.

And yes, I know I should get a trigger job, etc.

Bob- srry to add to your post, I have the same gun and want to do the same modification. Do we have to revert it back to OEM spec if we want to sell it to another person in MA ?

4 bucks and that company has every part you'll ever need/want for an M&P with excellent service. Extremely easy to install.

Edit: I've installed one of those and a spring on a buddy's M&P 40. For his I just used a magazien catch spring from a .45 I had that looked like it would fit. He shoots with me pretty frequently and that was done over a year ago with no issues.

Edit again: I looked at one of your other posts to see if you were near any decent shops that carried springs. It looks like you might be near First Defense? If so, take out the sear housing, remove that spring in the pictures linked below my post and just take it in with you and match it up to one of the springs on Dennis's shelf. He's probably got 100 different springs, about half of which will work for this.

I am- I really like their shop- That's a good suggestion. I'll head over on Monday and see what I can dig up.

Thanks!

Just a heads up, FD is closed Monday and Tuesday, he's heading to CT for a gun trade show. He'll be open at 5 on Wednesday.

I have an M&P9c with the mag safety. Other than the obvious - the gun will now shoot with one in the pipe and no mag - Why do you want to do this? I see this as a feature. If there was ever a "struggle" for the gun where someone might try to take it from me, I can drop the mag & know I won't get shot w/ my own gun. At least, that's the potential benefit that was explained to me - when I bought it at FD.

If you're in a struggle for your gun you need to train better. If you can drop the mag in a struggle you're not struggling hard enough. The mag disconnect is a giant pain in the ass for IDPA and any other instance were you may need to clear the firearm by releasing the firing pin.
