I know this topic has been covered before, but the techniques I've read don't seem to work on my gun. Supermoto posted a vid on how to remove the lever completely (thanks!), but I've read that you can just pull the trigger to release the slide like a Glock. Doesn't seem to work on mine.
Does that only pertain to the Pro's and the L's?
I have the 9c.
Perhaps I'm just skipping or missing a step?
Thanks!

It doesn't work ALL the time, but generally, you can pull the trigger like a Glock, releasing the firing pin, flipping the take down lever and remove the slide.

Other than that, instead of using the tool, you can use your finger, or a "click" pen with the pen retracted works good.

No, it should work for all of them.

IF YOU HAVE ONE OF THE GUNS WITH A MAG SAFETY, THE MAG MUST BE IN FOR THIS TO WORK

VERIFY GUN IS EMPTY
Lock slide back
Flip take-down lever on side of slide down.
Unlock slide and let it move to battery
Pull trigger while moving slide forward.

What is the advantage in doing this?

Got it. My mag was not in.
I also did get it down with my pinky once, and have a small screwdriver in my range bag if I needed it, but trigger release just sounds so much easier...

It sounds like the way I have been taking it apart since I got it. What is different or what is the other way? So some people push the lever down with there finger and others with a pen and some with the foolish tool.

My lever is gone. I'm not sticking my finger in a dirty ejection port with a 16 pound spring holding back a solid metal slide. Seems pretty dumb to me.

I removed my bar.
1. Remove the rear roll pin (with a roll pin punch and hammer)
2. Pull out the sear block
3. Push out the rod that holds the takedown lever and I think also the mag release lever
4. Remove the rod, the spring and the levers

Now it's so much cleaner

This is the process that Supermoto posted in a vid for me. I just put grip tape on the frame that covers the roll pin, however. I did keep the adhesive backing to use for a template when I have to change or reapply grip tape, though. I'm sure it's less work than I'm making it out to be in my mind...
Any particular size punch/where do I get something like that - regular hardware store?
I just hope my gun doesn't end up screwed up like yours did!! ( No offense[smile])

Haha. No offense taken. The changes I made didn't screw up the gun. I'm pretty confident of that at this point.
Removing this shouldn't screw your gun either.

Usually punches come in kits of 4 or 5 and they'll have the right size in there.
I'd get a set of roll pin punches which have a raised center to keep the punch aligned with the pin. I'd also get a set of normal punches which are just completely flat.

Some hardware stores may have them. You can always order them online.

Thanks, I'll look into it. I have some small brass punches I've purchased for auto use, I'll check their size.
I know that removing those components alone should not screw up the gun, but I'm worried about tolerances when reinstalling the remaining parts, if everything fits the same and is in the same exact location, especially with me being new to guns and all...

The frame has very little to do with it.
The rails are the integral to the parts that you remove from the frame.
There are guides to get the pieces back in but as far as tolerances go I wouldn't worry. You'll see when you remove it that the large parts only go back in 1 way.

Me and/or my gun must be retarded.
I'm sitting here in front of the comp. and trying it over and over again, and it does not work for me...
Oh well.

are you taking the mag out after you pull the trigger? before you try to get the slide off?
Aha!! No, I wasn't! These directions didn't indicate that step.

Unlock slide and let it move to battery
Pull trigger while moving slide forward.

Mag removal did the trick - thanks! more rep points!

hahah - i must be even slower...

Do you take the mag out after you release the slide back and the trigger is reset?

Thanks!
