Can anyone tell me how the drum sight is held in? Is it an O-ring that keeps it in place?

Yes I think there a ball detent with spring inside it

What exactly is your question? The notch on the hood is to show the orientation of the offset of the aperature.

How it the drum sight held in place? I pulled it out of the safe and said drum sight had fallen off.

There is a very small retaining ring that holds it, the detent ball and wave washers.

Maybe hes looking from the spring and ball still.
