I am starting the search for a 5" 1911 w/rail, w/ steel frame (no lightweights). My ideal choice would be a Springfield MC Operator or the S&W E Series, but they are not MA compliant. Is there anything out there that is? I am not interested in a build, and am trying to avoid paying the premium for an off-list gun.

There is nothing out that I would buy under your criteria provider the gun is for serious use and not just playing at the range. I own an MC operator and love it, but of course I had a bit more than a free stater would have :(

E-Series with rail ARE Mass Compliant...

I will start looking for a dealer then. I got bad info from one. Thanks guys.

The E series are good to get.
They are sweet have seen/handled two and shot one. They are pretty dam tight and smooth.
I have a 1911PD that I am very happy with myself or I would still be looking for a quality 1911.

There are plenty of dealers who has them or will order them for you.

My E-Series S&W1911TA model shoots like a dream. The steel frame is good to go.

However, because of its weight, I have my Scandium frame S&W1911 as my EDC instead.

Never go with what dealers tell you, always check the actual list, it saves time and stress lol

I had a dealer on rt.9 tell me AR-15's are illegal in Massachusetts because they are machine guns... the knucklehead had about 4 on a wall he was selling though, meaning he didn't even know what an AR was lol

The list isn't any more accurate than the dealers.

As for your question, you can get a Para or an S&W - I had a MA compliant S&W with rail.

The E series is indeed MA compliant. My dad has the one with the rail on it. SW1911TA.

Good luck finding one though... E series are hard to find, everywhere. (this isn't an MA problem, it's an everywhere problem. )

Take your statement and reverse it, then I'll agree with it. The list is meaningless when buying guns from an MA dealer. Whatever the dealer says goes, in "either direction". If a dealer doesn't tell you what you want to hear call the next
one. Some dealers use different distributors who have different standards for compliance, etc, etc. ... some dealers
also use the excuse of "it's not compliant" as newspeak for "my distributor doesn't sell it and I'm too lazy to use another
distributor."

[shocked] [shocked] SAY WHAT!!!!!!!! I bought an E Series 1911TA a few weeks ago and LOVE it!!!! Love it even more now that I picked up a few Wilson Combat magazines to go with it....my Ruger 1911 is feeling a bit overlooked these days.

I am pretty sure the E series is compliant

No self promotion just offering options, and some photos. I have a lot more photos if you would like me to post them. No need to purchase anything and a custom gun isn't in eveyones budget or style. It is cool to look though.
