MA-Gun Laws (Fed & MA) and Inheritance

Bobby, at any time the guns can be taken from the police and transferred to a FFL. This may cost you a few bucks, but they will then be in a safe place.

If you have an interest in pursuing this path, then let us all know and we can provide more guidance.

The trick is finding a cooperative FFL who (a) will not gouge on storage, and (b) will treat it is a transfer of a gun you own, not a "sale", and interpret the MA "list" as not being applicable becuase they are not "selling you" (or your designee) a gun you already own. Some FFLs walk a path of caution and will not transfer a gun they could not sell.

If the confiscation was for anything other than a 209A, they can be transferred to any LTC holder with permission of the owner.
