I didn't want to hi-jack the last shotgun post but I am curious how many marine shotgun's are out there?

The only two I have found are the Mossberg 500 JIC (which really fits what i need) and the Remington 870 Marine Magnum.

I'm just curious if there are any other stainless or mariner coat shotguns out. The reason I am looking for a marine shotgun is just that. It would get used at least partially in a marine atmosphere where it is in the salt air.

The JIC's are about $400. I wish it came with a telescoping stock. Maybe I can outfit it with one? To my knowledge, there aren't any laws against that.

The Mossberg Mariner is the other Mossberg variation on the marine coated shotty.

Benelli also makes a marine coat shotgun - the Benelli Nova H2O.

They tuck it under "configurations" rather than putting it out in the open for some reason. I've handled one and it was solid. Not a lot of aftermarket parts, however, unlike the 870 which takes all standard 870 aftermarket parts.

Of all three, the new PVD "TriNyte®" coating on the Remmy XCS MM makes it probably the most durable and rust resistant of the bunch, but they're all good shottys.

ETA: Also if you look around there's the Hatsan "Escort" - which I think is made in Turkey, and is on the low-end price wise. Never handled one. Link: http://www.legacysports.com/products/escort/escort_pump.html

I belive Winchester made a pump out of SS and called it the Mariner.

I have a Winchester 1200, 18" bbl, rifle sights, marked "Stainless". I don't think Winchester ever used the word "Mariner" as a product identifier.

I bought a Remington 870 marine magnum many years ago for some reason. I did live on the Cape at the time but it never went anywhere near the water. I must've had extra cash burning a hole in my pocket or something.

Anyway I added a sidesaddle shell holder, surefire front grip light & knoxx specops stock.

I like that!!!! Thats the kinda setup I think i want to go with. I don't mind the mossberg JIC. It is small, but just having the pistol grip can suck sometimes. I wonder if that grip and stock would fit on the JIC

What kind of pump is that by the way with the built in flashlight? It looks like it just clips over

Hey abomb60, if you don't mind me picking your brain for a little bit I'm wondering if you can kind of give me a little review for that forend light you have. Is it useful? How are the controls? Do you have enough room to fit your hand on that forend with the light on it? Etc.

If you have the chance and could give me some info on it I'd appreciate it, because I'm pretty curious about buying one. Or if anyone else has one for that matter and they feel like chiming in. Thanks.

The foreend is from Surefire. They're expensive, and use expensive batteries (CR123s, cheapest I've ever seen them is $1.50 each, most stores sell them for like $10/pair for digicams), but theyre bright as hell, and bombproof to boot. I carry a surefire handheld (G2L) every day.

I replaced the fore-end of my Beretta with a flashlight unit. The switch is a long bar on the RH side of the grip and it uses regular "C" batteries. The Xenon beam is adjustable and a great improvement over a laser.

A laser tells you where you are shooting. The flashlight tells you WHAT and where you are shooting.

There is a pressure pad down one side for momentary on-off and a switch on the other side for constant on-off. The next model up had a lockout switch to prevent the light from coming on during storage or operations.

I think it's useful to have a light on a defensive gun and there is still plenty of room for my hand on there as well.

Thanks for the input abomb, scriv, and atmay. I think I'm going to get one. I am just concerned about wether or not I have enough space to put my hand on and operate the action naturally.
