Anyone here belong to this club? I read on the application you have to take a saftery "test" and if you pass you have to interview with the committee. What is the interview all about? What do they ask you?

Anyone willing to share their experience with this place?

Thanks

I'm a member. I joined last year and didn't have to do all that. Maybe it's because the indoor range keeps getting shot to shat by morons other than me. Amazing how the new equipment got blasted in six months. If you can't keep it on paper from 75 feet, sell your heat.[rolleyes]

The MRA has two indoor ranges with 24/7 access for members (and 7 total plus a small archery field). To make sure that everyone knows the rules to keeping everyone safe, there is an orientation process but it's not as complex as it might seem.

In general: (1) fill out an application, get a copy of the range rules, pay and set up a date for orientation; (2) show up for orientation, watch a brief safety DVD, take a short test on the range rules and a shooting test on the ranges with a .22 rifle and pistol (supplied) to make sure that you can hit paper and load / unload in a safe manner; (3) set up a meeting with an interview committe - they review any questions you might have gotten wrong on the test and talk about the basics (low stress and an opportunity to meet two or three members); (4) get your electronic fob either at the end of that meeting or the next Board meeting.

The system isn't perfect, what is? I don't worry about shooting alone and, as someone who has shot at a number of clubs, I don't want to worry any more than necessary about someone I don't know showing up and shooting from the position next to me.

I hope that this helps.

MRA, or at least some of it, is open all year long, right? I just want to make sure and I couldnt find the information on their website. Thanks for the help!

The monthly steel shoot @ 12:30 tomorrow, indoor for the winter, will be a great opportunity to meet some of the members, get a look a look at the club and shoot with a great bunch of folks.

back from my hijacked thread.... here

Yeah, I will most likely 90%+ be there for the bowling pin shoot.

I had fun and it was a great crew of people yesterday, malfunctions not included. But now I will be prepared. Good thing I brought a backup gun...

And thanks to Whitey627 and others for advice, tools a main spring and some trouble shooting (no pun intended).

I'm trying to get Bass Pro to take back the Para... I no longer have faith in them (Para's)... Even if it's fixed, not sure I want it. I'd rather spend a bit more and have a reliable pistol out of the box...

The office is only open on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings.

The two indoor ranges are open 24 / 7, the three outdoor ranges (other than the two shotgun fields) are open 7:30 AM to sunset (Sundays and holidays 10:00 AM to sunset) and the two shotgun ranges are open on Sun. morning (sporting clays) and wed evenings (trap).

I hope that this is helpful. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to PM me.
