Actually, when you consider residents that are under the age of 21, the numbers are pretty encouraging. In most small towns, the under 21 group could be as much as half the population.
So in a town like Lakeville, if almost half the people can't get an LTC and almost 10% of the whole have an LTC, that means that about 1 in 5 eligible people have one. Then there are the group that just have FID's. So, many people in Lakeville own a firearm, or better still, darn near every home in Lakeville probably has a gun in the house. And they have great fresh water fishing.

Hmm all the towns around me are on the list, but Sutton is absent.
My town came in higher than I thought at 26. The surrounding towns were 10-20 spots back. I wonder what the numbers are with all licensing. I doubt there's a single Class B in my town but I'll bet there are quite a few LTCsfrom hunters. I would imagine the same would be true in a lot of towns.

And Rochester is a close...uh...wait, apparently Rochester no longer exists according to this report. Or E. Freetown. And I know quite a few LTC-A holders in both!

While I'm not backing Gemme here, there's no big city on that list. The largest still has a population well under 100,000. There are a ton of reasons why you don't have a real high (legal) percentage of gun ownership in large cities. Asswipe COPS isn't the only one. To get Worcester to show up there as number 80, they would have had to have issued about 8,400 LTC A licenses. That's a buttload.
I'm interested in the news story to see how the percentages have risen. Was it steady since 98? Is it spiking? Is it focused? Could be some interesting stuff if its actually a story.

Technically, even a person with a restricted LTC A "can carry a weapon concealed" Where and when they can do so is restricted. A person with an LTC B does not have that option at all.

IME, WCVB is one of the least sensational large news outlets locally. I'll hold off on condemning them until I see the story. There is a positive, or at least neutral, way to portray a rise in LTC A applicants. I know this forum sees the positive side to it. I'll admit, the media has done a good job of conditioning us to expect the worst but we're not doing ourselves any favors by cursing this report out before it airs.

We all know how that will turn out carrying concealed on a sporting restriction. I know I don't do it. Worcester may think 1 thing, and Medway will think another. Not worth it.
I agree about Worcester having a bigger population. I just wish they were listed. I'd be curious to know what the numbers are.

Top 10 Least armed viz-a-viz crime rates in those towns compared with the crime rate in the most armed towns (All arms, not just LTC-A holders). THAT would be news.

I live in Chesterfield and I can say without a doubt that our town is well armed. Every person I know owns more than one firearm. I wouldn't dream of living anywhere else in Mass. Now Vermont or New Hampshire is a different story.

TW, having restrictions on an LTC may grant you to carry concealed but I can almost guarantee that if you ever had to use your CCW when you shouldn't have had it on you to begin with , I don't think that will play out well in court. I met a guy who had restrictions and he told me he sometimes leaves his range bag in the trunk and CC's. That really isn't a good idea but he didn't want to hear it. Best option is trying to lift those stupid ****ing restrictions and if you have them already, I'd tread lightly if you think you can legally carry.

the officer who did my paperwork, in Charlton said" it's the same paperwork might as well go for the highest you can. Why get a impala if you can get the vette"
and as mentioned the crime rate here is next to nothing, has been one murder in Charlton in the last 35 years and a knife was used.
