Military Sidearm Winter Shoot

Well... I took out the P.08, intending to shoot the match.

Unfortunately, the 10th round (CCI Blazer 115gr FMJ) failed to extract... and while I was struggling with it to try and clear the jam, I dropped the Luger into the snow.

Now that it's been freshly field stripped, cleaned and oiled, I'll try it again today. With three more inches of fresh snow on the ground. :/ I really need to build that shoot house I've been talking about...

Took my favorite to the range; the 1915 M14 Mauser. 38F, windy, cold. 40 rounds of Magtech FMJ/RN (71/905/129) - 1 dud - and 8 rounds Winchester FMJ/SWC (71/905/129) - 1 fail to feed as the 8th round. Shot 8 rounds each target rapid fire; 2 mags top, 2 mags bottom. Then 4 rounds each target to get the 12. 50 feet is a fair distance for a .32; used gloves for only the second time. SWC ammo is the only type this pistol is irregular with. It absolutely loves Federal Hydra Shok and Speer God Dots (JHP (65/950/130 and 60/960/123).

This pistol is part of a trophy rig. Original holster dated 1916 (upper left in picture). The original closure strap has a souvenir Imperial Button; I had the strap repaired. Imperial acceptance proof is the Prussian Cipher in front of the rear sight. Commercial Proof (U/Crown) below the rear sight. One of my three regular carry pieces.

I participated in familiarization (FAM) fire with the 1911 in boot camp and qualified as a Sharpshooter with it at the School of Infantry.
When I got to my first fleet unit (1/8) they had already made the switch to the M9.
I FAM fired the M9 occasionally through the years, but didn't qualify with it until I had over ten years in service.
Ultimately, I earned the Expert's badge (5th award).

The 1911 target is either a 96 or 97/120

Had to rush this one. Couple errands and then have to get 2 cats to the vet for 2:30. 33F, clear, breeze, cold. 24 rounds WWB 50 feet. All on paper at least.

Last time out before surgery with the 1944 German occupation Beretta. Previous owner never fired it. Cleaned grease out of it. SA marked spare magazine came today. Shot 4 rounds Federal Hydra Shok and 4 rounds PPU JHP and some PPU ball at the left target. Federal fed fine; all PPU JHP were FTF. About 12 rounds PPU ball at each of the other 2 targets; 4 were FTF. Action was stiff and a little rough. I think the pistol saw very little use and needs a couple boxes through it to loosen things up. About 30 feet, 45F, overcast. Was on target by the end. 32 is much less harsh than .380, so the lanyard ring really didn’t bother me that much.

Rummaged in the dumpster, otherwise known as the closet, and found a few things that may be of interest to the participants. Maybe three winners...pick by random order...

1. Original box of 10 1944 8x56R Austria/Hungary ammo on strippers
2. Russian oiler
3. Azula lefty belt holster for a .357 revolver
4. M84 trapdoor .45 cal socket bayonet
5. Pair of brass wall gun hooks

May not be able to drive for 12 weeks according to wife/doctor[angry2]
